Prog Rock fans

…and?

Ambrosia is one that I’m aware of but have never really listened to - perhaps I’ll Tidal them up today at work!
Anyone plow thru the Grammys? Er, I mean the rap/hip hop awards? IS the a difference between (c)rap and hip hop?
So if you go to the Progarchives and say go to “S” it takes a good few seconds to scroll thru all the artists. And that’s just “S”. I mean there are thousands of prog artists out there. has there EVER been a prog category? Not that I’m aware of.

At least we have this:

I cannot stand any of those award shows. The cringe factor is high, VERY HIGH

Interesting but I don’t agree with some of the awards. For example Production of Year, Album of Year and Song of Year.

More due to my taste (lack thereof?) or preferred style of Prog.

Tried the Ambrosia, Didn’t hate it but was a bit too 70s to become a favorite. Some was a bit Disney cartoon sounding. Can hear Alan Parsons sound in some. Certainly some skilled players tho.
I worked the remainder of my day with RWPL.

I agree, the prog awards leaned towards the prog metal last year. Haken is not my cup-o-tea either.
And Dream Theater - there’s five of my favorite musicians yet I really am not a huge fan of their work. A bit too technical at the expense of melody.
This mainly one man band is quite good - very melodic prog Great guitarist:

RPWL has a new album coming out next month. Let’s see

DT I own every CD but I gravitate towards Octavarium. I like the solo work of most of them.

I’ll try your suggestion. Thanks!

(PS more cartoon characters …!)

Ambrosia? A buddy gave it to me when it was released. I bet I only made it half way through the first side, then off it went to Resale Rekkids,

I read this morning that Water just completed a re-recording of Dark Side of the Moon - should come out in May. That ought to be interesting…Bold move for such a classic favorite album. Must check it out. I’m sure he’s collected some great talent to play on it. Snowy White again maybe? The Wall Live at Berlin (1990) was spectacular.
This could be good! Or… disastrous…

Yet another way to repackage and sell again a popular album.

My favorite has to be - An Evening With John Petrucci And Jordan Rudess (2007)

Two of the best at their craft.
There are some guys that inspire you want to sit down and practice your instrument and then there’s those that just make you want to put it up on Craigslist…

I’m talkin to YOU Jordan… you insanely talented scoundrel…

I like ambrosia salad , but not so much, the band !

Not a fan of the salad either.

Was right into Xinema (Sweden) for a spell, Distant Lights being their best track (IMO) - no video I’ve found but I did find this guy who covered the awesome solo - and impressively well.

Sven Larsson (Xinema guitarist) is crazy good.

I was not aware of Ximena. THANKS!

Love the fingerboard mastery

You a musician? :guitar: :musical_keyboard: :drum:

I don’t call me myself a musician but I like to make noise. My brother is a drummer and sometimes plays the guitar. I own (notice how I didn’t write i play) guitars… Electric, acoustic, Spanish, 12 string, etc

Are Waters’ expenses exceeding his royalties?

My wife and I saw BHT and the Monsters in Annapolis Md. Sunday evening. The keyboard player [ Jeremy Lawton ] was playing the Hammond organ with his right hand while while playing the Steel slide guitar with his left hand. I don’t think i’ve ever seen that before.

Cool stuff! I wonder if the slide guitar was midi’d or patched thru the Hammond…?
Love Big Head Todd.
That really is my only beef with living in a small town on an island - seeing concerts becomes a bit of an ordeal.
Does my envy convey very well over the interweb…?
