MOOGs! Love it!

Serious question: what is Prog?

Is it rock with odd time signatures, such as 5/4, 7/8, etc.?

This seems too simplistic.

tough question. To me it includes: concept driven longish tracks/albums, unique instruments, larger than life, complex musicality.

There were a few tracks available last week on Tidal - Oklahoma was quite melodic. I see the rest are available now… :cd: :arrow_forward:

Thanks, I’ll check them out soon. Are you a Haken fan ? They are going to be in Baltimore next month. I’m going to go.

I agree on your assessment of that album. That why I bought the vinyl version.

I don’t know if any of you have thought about this , but I can’t stop thinking of all those young people being slaughtered at a music festival promoting peace. I haven’t heard any thing concerning any of the bands who were there. I’m thinking of Blackfield specifically since I’m not familiar with other bands in that region. I hope their OK.

I just bought the download of Journey through the hidden gardens on Bandcamp.
Very nice !

Was Avi G playing there? I have not seen any mention by SW about this. Ashamed to say that I had not thought of this

I don’t know who was playing there. I’m guessing if anything bad happened , Steven would have responded by now.

Besides Aviv Geffen, Rotem (and her two children) - Steven Wilson’s partner to life - is Israeli as well.

I guess I should have known that , but I didn’t. He and his family are probably in a state of shock right now.

Aviv has posted some photos on IG. As expected the comments are coming from all sides

Given how small Israel is, concrete geographical size (about the size of NJ) and number of citizens (~9 million), as well as how minuscule the overall worldwide Jewish population is (~16 million, 0.2% of world population), many Israelis know someone who was killed, victimized, abducted, or drafted. It’s a country where the depth and intensity of attachments is profound, and where the meaning of community, mutuality, and non-negotiable existential dependency on one another is core and definitional to both National and Individual character. Rotem Wilson is Israeli, and Steven Wilson spent several years in Israel (living, creating, and later loving), therefore both very likely have significant emotional and relational attachments there. Parents, friends, very likely the girls’ father. As such, I imagine the Wilson family are quite emotionally-disorganized and traumatically-fragmented at this time by the carnage, which for many Jews can only be formulated and linked to the unthinkably horrific Holocaust images and experiences.

I have to thank you again for turning me onto house of Not when I first joined. I’ve been listening to all four albums again today. I just finished number three. Brian Erikson’s vocals on that album make my eyes fill up. Just beautiful.
