PS Audio the new Bose?

Bose’s time was around 50 years ago, and they haven’t delivered a decent audio product since then.
I sincerely hope PSA never becomes the new Bose.

BOSE was a $4billion turnover company making a range of very successful consumer electronics, automotive and in particular headphones. They have made some very innovative products and provide value.

Their big thing in recent years were their noise cancelling headphones, I had two pairs and loved them, they gained a lot of market share and a partnership with Apple. They sued Beats for copying the tech, Apple then bought Beats and basically Beats won the headphones war.

Bose did some good speakers in the 1970s and 1980s and some hi-end speakers recently for branding purposes.

Besides all that, Bose has as much in common with PS Audio as a bar of soap.

It is every investor’s dream to maximize their investment, and every designer’s dream to have the whole world use their designs. After all, tech, though driven by passion, needs profits to sustain itself and grow. Companies stay in good standing, and in good health, as long as they do not cut corners or compromise quality. Products have a life cycle, and they would stay at the upper side of the curve as long as they are seen good by their customers. Profitability makes companies stay in a segment, diversify into other segments, diversify products, or specialize in a product but cover multiple segments. They can also cross borders with products, shift production facilities, and sometimes shift design to innovation parks scattered around the world. Audio is a crowded market and I feel for producers, but feel more for audiophiles

He was doing a live feed last night, answering people’s questions and comments.

You should give Shure KSE-1200 IEM headphones. I love mine!

Technics is the new Crosley

Fascinating. I just read through this thread. Never even heard of zero fidelity. Maybe I should get out More.

I interpreted the comments as a swipe at PS Audio, but it seemed so arbitrary and surprised me.

Darko was the catalyst into my Audiophile path. Initially, I didn’t understand what a DAC was, so I did a search on the innerwebs. Darko’s YouTube video A Beginner’s Guide to DACs came up; then the video DASs 101: Introduction to DACs and DAC Buyer’s Guide. Next I found Paul’s videos, which lead to my complete PSA BHK 300 system, DSD, SPP, PW SACD (pre-order), AQ cables/interconnects, Aries G2, and three different speakers GE Triton Reference, PAP Quintet15 Horn1, and Tekton Ulfberht. So far down the rabbit hole; I’m in too deep to turn back now. Currently experimenting with XO component upgrades on the PAPs.

You’re not missing anything Paul…

I gave up on ZF a while back as I don’t share his philosophy and am not in the market for under $1k stand mounts. As to PSA being the new Bose, I don’t even know what that means

Only if I win the Lottery. Never liked IEM since I was a kid. They always fall out.

I will make a note, only spoons and sippi cups for you.
Do you also require suspenders?

Shure earphones are remarkable. They changed everything for me as far as working out because they STAY IN and do NOT move. The wire going over the ear helps stabilize everything.

That being said, I got customs made a couple years back and passed on my Shures to a friend to spread the gospel.

I still have a pair of Shure SE215’s and 425’s, have had them for many years and absolutely love them.

I have Shure 535’s, 846’s, and KSE-1200’s. I did buy a pair of CIEM’s and found with the hollow acrylic shell they came with they did not reduce noise as well as my Shure’s. So I sold them at a good price to someone who then had then re-shelled. I am not going to revisit the CIEM issue again. (They fit so nice though!!!)

And I have never had a single issue with them popping out. Even when chewing gum.

Yep. I still have my e3cs but passed on a pair of SE 215s. The e3 was my first entry into “expensive” earphones, purchased from Apple on a Black Friday sale probably 14 years ago. Like I say, they changed everything.

My Ultimate Ears pros are going strong. I like them a lot more since I lost weight; they seem to fit better. I don’t think I got the best molds to start unfortunately and there’s no fixing that short of buying another pair. My only serious heartburn with them is they can be microphonic with my heartbeat, but not all the time, which is what makes it maddening. Ah well. But they sound really good and are pretty comfortable for an IEM.
