PS Connect

I wonder if Tidal is having some trouble right now because other folks are reporting it in another thread using the MControl app. I did just give the MUZO app a shot and it’s still working. Do you mind seeing if that app works? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wifiaudio&hl=en_US&gl=US

I encountered the same problem with MUZO. I also tried using an Android tablet (Amazon Fire) instead of my phone (Samsung Galaxy S9), but the same problem happens on the tablet. As you say, it might be a problem on Tidal’s end. It doesn’t seem like Tidal is good about syncing info across instances. I added a bunch of artists on the desktop app. Only one of those artists appears on my phone app and none of them appear on my tablet app, even after closing and reopening all of the instances.

Can you try https://apps.apple.com/rs/app/muzio-player/id1523447858 Muzio player and see if the results are the same or different?

I downloaded Muzio player as well, but I couldn’t figure out how to stream from Tidal (or any other service) or cast the music to a device.

Haha, Paul always links the Muzio app and it’s supposed to be the Muzo one I linked above. Have you tried to see whether you can simply stream Tidal to your phone without any hiccups?

Yes, I can play Tidal on my phone and cast to Chromecast and Sonos devices.

Good to know. I was having some trouble with mine yesterday as well. If you try and play a track, would it sit there for a few minutes at 00:00 and do nothing? Mine was being a little laggy but would eventually play.

When I do a fresh start up and try to play a track, there is a quick “loading…” animation (maybe 3 or 4 seconds), but after that clears nothing happens (I let the phone sit for a couple of minutes after initially hitting play). Normally the play button converts to a pause button after you start playback, but in this case it just remains a play button. I can press the play button and the app acknowledges the press by darkening the button, but it never converts to a pause button. I can use the next and last track buttons to select different tracks, but the play button won’t activate.

Weird, I’m surprised that it’s still not loading properly. Is the Strata and your phone decently far from the router?

Maybe 30 feet from the router. FWIW, I wasn’t able to use Tidal on my Marantz AV receiver through HEOS either. So far my only success is with Chromecast and Sonos.

Are you able to get Tune in to play? It’s one of the player options within the PS Connect app.

Yes, TuneIn works. Amazon Music works as well, though it is really slow - it takes 5-7 seconds to change between tracks. For Amazon Music, I was only using tracks that I had purchased, not their streaming service.

One of my colleagues suggested trying to adjust the volume with your phone while you’re trying to play a track.

Got it working now. Moved my setup to another room and connected the Strata with ethernet. Not sure if that did the trick or if Tidal changed some things on their back end. Any word on when we’ll be able to stream directly from the Tidal app like you can do with Spotify?

I haven’t heard any update regarding the support of Tidal direct. I’m not confident in giving either answer, it eventually will, or it will never support it. Only time will tell.

Looks like a lot is happening at PS audio but I wanted to ask if there is any status on the PS connect App and is the planned octave software likely to support the Strata as a replacement. Thanks

The PS Connect app is up on the Android and Apple store. As for the Octave software working with Strata, this won’t be possible. It doesn’t have the hardware that is needed to work with it.

Thanks appreciate your response

Any chance PS Connect will be updated to have landscape view. It only works in portrait view and using it on an iPad when docked with its keyboard stand means always turning it vertical to use it.

Not that I’ve heard. I haven’t heard any definitive answer, but my guess would be no.
