Have you attempted to contact PSA directly yet? It still may be in everyone’s best interest to do so for many reasons. You can turn around and flip your dealer a few bucks depending on how it works out.
Thanks all for the suggestions, the Isotek and Shunyata ones in particular look very interesting - more research and testing needed. I do believe in clean power (unfortunately my mains AC is not) and less so ‘conditioning’ so a line conditioner is not really what I’m looking for.
Another option might be one of the medical grade UPS devices that generate pure sine waves at all times.
I understand your wanting to be loyal to your dealer but you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. A Powerplant Regenerator can make a substantial improvement to your system performance. If you don’t want to buy direct from PS Audio look for sellers on this forum. I bought my P-10 for a bargain price with 2 years left on the warranty. I would not be without it. Steer Clear of conditioners and even hospital grade regenerators as they were not designed with the best sonic performance in mind.
If you want a regenerator its best to stick with PSA. Nobody else does it like they do.
And call PS Audio and see if you can work something out which satisfies you and helps your dealer.
Telling us you are unhappy does not get you anywhere.
edited for typo
Here’s an alternative regenerator. Supposed to be good and alot cheaper than psaudio…
I’m not sure you want this statement to live a long life on the internet. ![]()
I know you didn’t mean it the way it sounds but it’s the kind of comment that could be taken out of context.
I’ll be sure to call.
Thanks @retro, UK only it seems tho.
Best of luck in your quest!
There other companies that do regeneration very well.
Conditioners were, and may still be, far more popular in the UK market than regenerators. Balanced power supplies are also popular.
It is well known that several companies moved to audio after having developed ultra-low noise products for the medical industry. There are many cases of audio developments arising from other industries. Tech is tech and may well have benefits in unintended applications.
It is important to first decide what you are trying to achieve, which will depend on the equipment you use, when you use it, the quality of your mains, the amount of electrical noise and interference in your vicinity. So regeneration is not a “fix-all” by any means.
I read a recent review of the P20 (I think) that it had a lot of benefit during the day but much less at night.
Like anything, you need the right tool for the job and more than one company makes the tools capable of doing so.
No, don’t think so. I’m sure they ship anywhere.
Works on 120-295 VAC input.
Have planned to try one out myself…
Eaton 9PX. I have had both the P20 and the Eaton in my listening room, all else equal the Eaton 9PX delivered to my ears the same experience. It also costs much less and uses double conversion. The only downside is you have to feel comfortable installing a quieter fan, the stock one is very noisy as it is meant to be used in data centers.
I am not the only one who has compared the Eaton 9PX vs P20:
This may be true, but according to the manual the minimum output voltage is 208… which may be a little hard on some components.
Oh well, missed that. Then again, it’s about time you guys start adapting to the rest of the world and buy your hifi in 230 VAC versions…
I am sorry; I have no idea what you mean - but it appears you understood my comment.
It is good to learn you will contact PS Audio and try to work something out.
Have you tried the Equi=Core 1800? I’m thinking about giving the Equi=Core 1800 in combination with the Deep Core a try, but I’m a little hesitant considering there’s no trial period offered by the dealer.
I have been using the Equi=Core 1800 since last February. I received one of the last one delivered before Mark ran the company into the ground and Walter bought him out. It seems to do it’s job and at the price Walter was offering it for recently not much of a gamble. Walter’s people made some wiring improvements on the original model so it should be better. I talked to him about the Deep Core when I bought my Aries but haven’t tried one. I picked up a used Stellar P3 earlier in the week and am going to experiment with it on the Front End components and see if any improvement.
I’ll be interested to hear how the P3 compares to the Equi=1800.
I did think about the Equi=Core and spoke to Walter. I have a B-P-T BP2 from back in the day which I am very happy with to this day and I sorta felt the Equi=Core would be too similar.
I think the concepts are very similar and Mark started Core when BPT started bowing out of the market. Keces also makes a similar unit though both unit’s pricing is lower than what BPT was charging.
