PWD 2.4.4

Now I have performed the same procedure using a PC. The files unzip and copied to the sd card.

Without success.

On the SD card, when I bought the PWD, was the following files are on it.

COVERART.BMP

LOADER.CFG

PWD20401.hex

PWD20403.hex

PWD20404.hex

PWDPL109.hex

PWDPL110.hex

PWDUI200.hex

PWDUL103.bin

PWDUL103.bin.cpgz

PWDUL103.hex

version.txt

I can’t help with these files, but I note improved SQ over 2.4.3 when I use 44.1 instead of NativeX.

Also, Phase switch seems to do nothing where the difference was noticeable with 2.4.3.

Still, mute doesn’t work with 2.4.4.

BRIDGE- 2.13c

edit:

many are reporting good SQ results after installing 2.15a for the Bridge.

Thank you Bill and thank you Gordon for the answers.

For me, it is not the question of the quality of the updates.

I question why I am not in a position to another update, for example,
perform on 2.2.0 or other versions.

Well, you should have both.

Another trick is to unplug your DAC overnight with ALL cables [electrical, ethernet, usb etc] disconnected.

Start up the dac the next day with ONLY the power cable connected and then try a freshly downloaded firmware that is different from what you have installed. [check to front panel to dbl check what ver it says.

If it takes the "other firmware, then try 2.4.4

yes you’re right Gordon, I should note both.
I’m going to do what you have proposed and then I will report back.

Kdieter, be sure to insert the SD card with the gold contacts facing up. Many have put the card in upside down as it is easy to do.

Right, because upside down (contacts up) is actually the right side up in this case.

Hello,

the update attempt was not successful!

The PWD was off 10 hours, without any connection. It was started only with electricity connection.

The SD Card’s (2 GB) correctly inserted, golden contacts facing up.

Then I have formatted the SD card as DOS on a PC, copied files to it, no success.

Then I have copied the files from the actuell SD card -2.4.3 been in PWD - to the new SD cards, the CD cover is displayed in eLyric on a Ipad, but not on the PWD.

After the PWD started again with the “old” SD Card, the cover is now also displayed on the PWD.

I’m sure the PWD may not just read and write from the other two SD cards, with 2.4.4. or 2.2.0 versions.

But these SD cards can be read and written by Mac and PC, there are several manufacturers of the cards. However, there are regular SD cards.

I have no more idea what ist the matter.

As I recall, the PWD expects the cards to be formatted FAT32.

The 2GB SD cards I have from PSA (one PWD update and the DS update) are both FAT16. I would start there (FAT32 may work as well, I really don’t recall if that was an issue in the past).

Thank you for correcting me. This is good information.

I'm using FAT16 here for my PWD/DS, supporting FAT32 is just more code and more bugs (for an embedded controller) so I wouldn't count on it being supported. Also 8.3 names for your files are needed (but PSA doesn't pass out anything else.)

So, for Beta testers going back and forth with new DS firmware versions, should they make sure the cards are fat16?

I have been using my older [fat32] for my testing since the beginning.

No wonder nobody agrees with me.toilet-2_gif

Hey, if it works, it works  I’ve been using both 2G and 512 Meg SD cards for DS software upgrades, but my bridge didn’t seem very happy with random sized USB memory sticks…

tweeters?

Yep, It's nice to listen again. I think the fellows who were installing the new tweeters were a little surprised at what they heard when I started testing them. I think the old ones had been tortured a little too much, things sound great right now (well except that I'm tiring my ears by enjoying too much stuff too loud :) )

It must be wonderful to hear what’s going on up there again.

Glad you’re back in business, Ted.

Update to 2.4.4 is successful!

What I have done?

The SD card wich was at the PWD named:

SanDisk 2GB Class 2

Exactly the same SD card I have bought in the www. Then I copied the update on it, put the card in to the PWD, take the cable from the bridge and started.

The blue Logo blinking, the update has started.

Then I have entered the IP number of my network.

Everything was perfect.

The other SD Card’s were also 2 GB, but Class 4

All cards were formatted with FAT 16.

Thank you all.
