Not sure, actually. Grabbed the image off the web, but I’ve seen that layout before.
A decent part of why I love audio is staring at it, and silver shows it all better. Black is good for ninjas or a funeral hearst. Oddly, most electronics have been black, from Naim to Simaudio, McIntosh, Legacy, Marantz, even back to SAE and other stuff I have forgotten.
My favorite look? Black PS Audio component, on silver VooDoo Cable Iso-Pods, on a silver PS Audio PowerBase, on a maple Mapleshade Audio Samson rack. Lovely!
Silver and other light colors displays details and lines. Black is subtle and more readily disappears.
I own a mishmash.
Decided to go with silver in the future unless I get Gryphon (in honor of @aangen)
Easier to avoid tripping over in the dark
My first setup was goldish with woodish casing; my last was black; my next will be silver billet
Black is beautiful! I do have a Silver BHK preamp. I like the contrast to the rest of the equipment.
I love every gear to be silver! The main reason is that I see and find them easier at night. Black is too dark for my old eyes nowaday. I got rid of all black BAT gear a few years ago.
I replaced all my golf balls to yellow color too, so I can see them from 150 yards out.
I have black gear sitting on silver VooDoo Cable IsoPods sitting on silver PS Audio PowerBases. That’s a cool look.
In the future I plan to only buy gear in safety yellow.
Going back to Wilson speakers? Ti tnink your pretty safe with white ice cream.
Is that the color of your rabbit?
Black gets thinner, silver gets fatter!
Black looks like modern, silver older.
Black gives a sense of robustness, silver reminds me cheap plastic.
Black is four seasons, silver feels cold.
Black is elegant, silver is industrial.
Exceptions: Jeff Rowland polish steel (beautiful) and Luxman silver matte or anodized aluminium billet silver (Apple and MSB).
I hate black, never had black cars, motorcycles, dresses or furnitures. Only in my audiophile life I choose black and never look back. Until my mentor can make me change idea.
A worthy debate over wine
I’ll drink to that!
I prefer gold/champagne as in conrad-johnson, and the golden glow of thermionic devices.
I only like gold/champagne color if there is alcohol in it. But I prefer dark colored wine usually. I wish all my cables would come with silver color too so I would not trip over them at night.
I think I need a vacation…
My DS MKII (and previously MKI) is silver and my BHK300’s are black, since they go different places. The Dac is on a rack with a variety of gear including a beautiful wood cased Strain Gauge phono stage, and the amps sit behind the speakers and subs, which are black.
