Snowmass 3.0.5 vs. 3.0.6

I had heard it was around 16K. The AN3 were supposed to be 10K now 15. Just saying

What does the phrase “Just saying” mean? “Just saying” what exactly?

Not to pick on you, but I have never understood what the speaker is adding to his statement by including this phrase.

I believe It’s a safe way of saying that nothing else was implied or meant by what was written, just what was written or ‘said’.

I take it as meaning my 2 cents worth…

It is precisely the tension between my 2 cents worth (I am expressing an opinion), I did not really mean anything by this statement, I wrote it and expressed an opinion but did not mean to offend, I am stating facts but no judgment, etc. which I find confusing. The phrase appears to have no commonly accepted clear meaning.

sure it does Sheldon! It’s there, you just can’t see it…

I take “just saying” to mean “this is my thinking on the subject. Maybe you should consider it”.
But, I could be wrong. Again. Just sayin’…

Sorry about the delay! Engineering ended up pretty busy on Friday and it didn’t go live on time. It’s up now

You can find it here.

Thanks, @Schroedster. I will be very interested in any sound quality comparisons between the new Snowmass v3.0.6 and the original Snowmass release (SMv3.0.0). I started with SMv3.0.0, then tried SMv3.0.4 but ended up reverting to SMv3.0.0, and I skipped v3.0.5.

3.0.5 isn’t too bad. Very different to 3.0.0 though. Doesn’t have the ?false? Sweet top end that 3.0.0 has, nor the ever so slightly fat bass. Not tried .6 yet though

Firstly it does much more than being just a bug fix,i can tell you that. Clearly an upgrade over older versions and by a good margin. I tried them all and stayed with 3.05. But now sound is more free of grain, really opens up the space in all directions, but not in tight but airy way, and echos and reverbs are nicely lasting longer and top end is even more natural and can easily hear more detail. Pretty much just makes me want to listen more and more.
Delicasy, ease of the music flowing are maybe best words to describe…zero listening fatique,if ever was  After a couple of days maybe better impressions, but that´s what comes to my mind now.
Download it…:slightly_smiling_face:

Let´s see if anyone feels the same

Downloaded/unzipped DSD Snowmass 3.06 and installed files on root directory of “overwrite formatted” SD card at home over lunch. Check of DSD Sr. firmware version number showed 3.0.6.
I went through an additional power cycle with rear panel switch after installation with SD card not engaged. I used the Steve Davis Project “Quality of Silence” stereo SACD for initial testing and
“Mo better…” I noted similar improvements as described by Somppsa.
I was running Snowmass 3.0.0 (as best sounding prior version) until 3.0.6.
3.0.6 is a definite winner to my ears in my system.
I strongly “second” the Download it …:slightly_smiling_face:

Hi - Does PSA expect this update to have any effect on the DS sonically?

Since my system is in a rural area, it always gives me the creeps when updating firmware, because of the frequent and unexpected (sunny days) power outages. Should power fail in the middle of an update, will I end up with a brick, or the DSD Sr will perform the update once power is back?
