Thanks. I got an email from Paul with the DS firmware link but I am using a DSJ. I’ll wait and see. I assume the DSJ is simpler to execute than the DS.
So does the display brightness still affect the sound quality or has that been fixed?
Just asking because I kind of need the display to begin with to see if the DoP plays as such rather than PCM 88.2 before I turn the preamp volume up with regards to an issue with the Auralic Aries streamer being loud static noise.
Thanks
Hi all, I live in Sydney and its Saturday the 10th and I can’t wait till Monday!!!
I’m in Brisbane (Australia that is). I was hoping to be part of the beta testing over the weekend.
Playing Little Feat and I can’t wait to hear Waiting For Columbus the live album with the the new Snow Machine!!!
I think we have a new nick name for the latest firmware.
Let it Snow!!!
I believe PS Audio has made it better for the beta. It can’t be made perfect, that’s asking for perfect cables… No matter what they do, turning the screen off will probably always be best but the kind of changes they were making will definitely help a lot when the display isn’t all of the way off. You can use the “DIM” button on the remote to turn the display off and then the “ON” button to take it back to the level set in the configuration options.
Testing Snowmass, the excitement of Paul and his team was not in vain, the UP is incredible!
The background details are more evident, the most striking plans, I felt gain in resolution, which for me is a shock, how can !!!
Ted Smith and the PS Audio team are to be congratulated, they just handed us a new DAC !!!
A question for @Paul , the bug in the last update of Bridge II where the covers did not appear is no longer happening, now I have covers and all the other information where used to freeze.
Was it fixed with Snowmass or a simple new installation of Redcloud solved it?
What does UP stand for?
Sorry, it’s an expression we use here in Brazil with a sense of improvement in quality, synonymous with improvement in SQ.
The display brightness is now slightly too bright.
With Red Cloud the low brightness setting matched the dimmest setting on the DMP.
Now with both the DSD and DMP set to “0”, the DSD is brighter.
No offense, but I’ve got my own problems to worry about . . .

Should I not report any minor inconsistencies I notice in this Beta release?
Yes, you should … sorry, I was amusing myself at your [ever-so-slight] expense and that wasn’t right. I am just blown away by the sonic upgrade, and I also think the display is sharper and cleaner, but I do not have a DMP that I am trying to match it with. Is there a way to increase the brightness on the DMP to make it match the lowest setting on the DS?
I think he was trying to be funny…it seems he was unsuccessful!
Apparently not! It’s late and it’s been a long week!
Sorry for my question, but I’m quite new to DSD. Whats the difference between “in” and “out” phase? And which of boths sounds better?
It varies with the recording and it is pretty arbitrary
