1971 George Benson with a stellar lineup of players. Really nice interpretation of Miles’ So What. Possibly one of the best of Benson’s outings as he easily rises to the occasion. Available on Qobuz and Tidal.

Rushton has a nice review on the new HDTT DSD256 in Positive Feedback, and Waymenchen11 loves the SQ of this one.

I downloaded it last night, and I totally agree with them.

2022 release, I think…

And there’s this one, with Bill Evans headlining. But the arrangements have Haffner’s touch.

Jackie McLean Bluesnik, just picked up a BlueNote Classics copy yesterday at Dusty Grooves, and the sound is very good indeed. I have a 1966 Liberty reissue from 1966 that sounds pretty good, but this 2023 reissue improves on it. Glad to have both.

Picked up Count Basie and his orchestra April in Paris, a 1981 Japanese mono reissue. This duplicates a copy I currently have. It is a great album. When I listen I alays fell as though it’s good for a second spin, “One More Time…” .

Picked up this at Dusty Grooves as well, and in this instance it does not duplicate what I have. Count Basie and his orchestra Basie in London

Nice trio set from Sylvie, and I really like Ned’s reed wrk here as well.

1950 Duke, one of the first Columbia Masterworks LPs, meaning his song styling could stretch out for longer than up to this point. Sound is just outstanding, Analogue Productions SACD.

The most recent cd from this excellent trio.

Michael Formanek : double bass and electronics
Tomas Fujiwara : drums and vibraphone
Mary Halvorson : guitar

First listen - very nice so far. Very transparent recording, nice guitar and double bass duo on the first cut.

More information and download here.

The Analog Production vinyl release is no slouch either. As far as the music, fine Ellington provided there.
