Seems Billy is under represented in this thread, fixing that now. Yet another opportunity to hear Fred Hersch.

Good evening. I’ve been part of this forum for three weeks, listening to jazz for close to fifty years. Never seen so many albums I’ve never seen. Thank you so much and please keep it up!

A favorite of mine for late evenings. The track “Vuelvo Al Sur” in particular. Well recorded.

I received my copy yesterday. Incredibly musical, wonderful synergy among the musicians and terrific sound restoration! Thanks for the tip.

Some discussion on the organissimo forum about Gene Ammons has made me grab some cds from the shelves to listen to. This one has some great 78s from Mercury, Chess and Aristocrat. It always amazes me how these French cds from Chronogical Classics sound better and better as my system seasons and improves.

I love many of his compositions. Unfortunately, I never got to see hi,.
Sad, but a terrific contributor. We will miss him.

I first listened to Wayne Shorter on WRTI-FM in 1973 when a DJ named Edgar Brown played all the Blue Note recordings of Shorter as a leader from 1964 to 1968. In 1964, Grachan Moncur III re- corded an album called Some Other Stuff with Shorter. If you want to find out how avante garde Shorter was getting, check out this music !
