Swiss Digital Fuse Box, the fuse reinvented

The Sluggo arrived with the instruction manual, and then an hour later the SDFB arrived. I turned off the P15 and then turned it back on and listened to about ten minutes of the last disc I had played. (The whole system always sounds different when you turn off the P15 for about an hour, so I wanted to establish a base line in my listening to the disc pre-SDFB). Then I turned the P15 off and installed the Sluggo and the SDFB (and the additional .5 meter PS Audio AC-12 power cable to match the one used before the SDFB and now between the P15 and SDFB.)

And the sound certainly is different, an hour in. The bass may be a bit “deeper” but it’s fuller, a bit looser. And there IS a brightness I was fearing I would hear, but it’s a fuzzier, not etched brightness.

I think I am going to like this more tomorrow. It definitely needs to settle in. The overall presentation is a little bigger as far as soundstage, a little bolder as far as imaging, and overall it’s giving an impression that reminds me of when the teacher (referred to as the “Master”) left the classroom when I was in Form One at boarding school in Swaziland and all the students started talking to each other and shifting about. . . that’s how different it seems to me, the Audio Magic M-1 presents a more focused, disciplined overall sound, at least at this stage. And I am certainly accustomed to that presentation. I want to also add that I have a number of Shunyata Research Defenders in the system which did indeed lower the noise floor as well and brought out positive improvement in use with the Audio Magic M-1 fuse. These are still in place now that the SDFB is in operation.

If I don’t get a chance to listen later, then the SDFB will have about 15 hours or so of use on it in the morning when I get to listen seriously.

I’ve about 80 hours on the Swiss Digital Fuse Box now and it has moved from an initial presentation that was a bit fuzzy and “BIG” sounding to a sound that is a bit better than any of the fuses I’ve heard before. I’m happy, the darned thing is NOT going back and Mark is sending me a second “Sluggo” to sample (I got the Super Sluggo with the unit, and he’s sending me the standard copper Sluggo, which another whose ears I appreciate tells me is his favorite).

I have total confidence that this is not going to set my system on fire in a literal sense, and as it has incrementally improved day by day, I think it may sound even better in a week or so until fully settled. And its arrival has allowed me to replace the Acme fuse in my SEWE300B amp with the Audio Magic M-1 that was in the regenerator, another incremental improvement to the overall sound.

I join Groovy Sauce and Scotte as happy Fuse Box users.

Man! I just ordered a new fuse that no one in this forum has tried yet, and I forgot about trying the fuse box. I’ll wait until two of my exotic fuses blown then.

So what is this fuse called? I hope it is not another SR fuse and you like it better and than the master. Audio Magic has nothing new out.
Edit

New for 2024- Masterpiece M-2 fuse

The M-2 has been in development for over a year now and finally meets our criteria for sonic excellence and provides a very noticeable improvement over any other fuse we have developed in the past. The M-2 is the most labor intensive fuse in our line up by far.

The M-2 is filled with our new Black Diamond fill within the fuse as well as Bees Wax also incorporating our i core technology and a proprietary coating on the outside of the fuse making this the quietest fuse ever!.

What does this mean sonically? Much blacker back ground, wider and deeper sound stage, better detail, better dynamics, smoother, and very musical. The M-2 will transform your system into something magical.

At least it is only 300.

This is the one that will beat all SR fuses! It is AM answer to SRMaster. it’s so new that AM site does not have it yet. M-2 is the one I ordered, and it’s order to make so there’s a two-week lead time. They promised it will bring magic to your system🕺🏻

I should have it in two weeks then.

The hiend electronics site has same description for M-1 as the cable company does for M-2. I wonder if misprint or if M-1 is being discontinued.

I will try to hold back. I never recovered from the Master fuse trial. I still get nightmares as to what happened to my system. Description makes M-2 sound like a 300 Bacch-dSP with ORC.

I reconfirmed that M-2 is their new model, but I don’t know if it is a replacement or not.

Your system loves AM fuses, but none of the SR remember? I think you will love it😆

I got a pair of new speakers to break in and understand, so I’ll let you know if it is worthy, say, after 1000 hours.

Here is what highend says

My ears only like AM Fuses it seems. The M-2 if more black background one never gets enough of that. In my system the SR master collapse was all noise and out of phase sounding.

You are quite right. Both Purple and Master had some strange breaking period in my system too. I had a hard time to find a gear to use the 2nd Master fuse. Finally I put it in the streamer where it hurts less. It was not until one year later I switched it into MK2. By then it sounded incredibly better! Very strange.

None of the AM fuses had any issue like that. I have high hope on this M-2. Of course, they could just change the label and calls it M-2 too.

So is this M-2 real or imaginary? I might buy a M-2 for my MU2. Fun!

Well the cable company is selling it.

Donald, you can’t help it. If possible, we should take it step by step. You tweak junkie :joy: After I learned what a capacitor can do for the money of an SR Master fuse, I’m holding off on something like replacing the fuse for the time being. Donald with your new speakers will turn your music experience upside down. Maybe the SSC magic bigpoint coasters would have been a better choice as a backup at the time. Before I make any further small changes, I’m thinking about building real high-end speakers. I think along these lines, unfortunately I missed the performance at the beginning of March. I’ll definitely listen to the speakers. If active were to be vastly superior to a passive system, it would mean rethinking my entire system.:see_no_evil: The Purifi seamst to be one of the best Material.

It could be a total scam! Vmax showed me the description is the same as M-1, and the price is the same, and you can even get a frequent buyer discount. That is never a good thing for a new product.

FR-30 will make my entire system sound like a new one so I may not tell if it makes a difference (for a while anyway). They said “new for 2024”, but they could say that with a new wrapper too

However, if it brings magic on top of FR30 magic I will let you know.

AM has the same marketing slogans with every new backup

Only $395, and you won’t be at risk of having to replace it:

I’m just saying…
