Synergistic Research ORANGE Quantum Fuse Vs Blue Fuse

Thanks folks. I thought I looked at the manual, fairly closely, and didn’t find the deets. Cheers.

Yes the SR fuse color of the month club. The descriptions of the purple look a great deal what they said about the orange.

Frankly, I find the orange sounding a bit hi-fi-ish the longer I’ve used them going back to when they were just released.

Time I think to go back to the audio horizons which I found supremely musical natural dynamic and with great slam years ago I still think now was more pure airy and sweet than the orange. Jerry’s fuses I became less enamired with his new fuse version of the month as well.

Something to be said about stability IMHO.

LOL

The s’mores might be the, uh, tastiest of all the fuses available.

Wonder what Chewbacca would say?

Any suggestions (apologies if I missed this) for more affordable fuses that provide an audible improvement but are not priced like “audiophile” tweaks? Esp. interested in folks who have ridden the Synergistic wave and found peace with the pocketbook and the sound of alternatives. I know fuses sound different in different gear - I’m looking at testing fuses on my monoblocks and preamp.

These have been well reviewed as I recall and I don’t know go anything equivalent for the cost. I haven’t used them myself.

Thanks. These fit the bill. I’m going to try these out in my monoblocks and the PSA DAC.

Another well reviewed fuse is: Quantum Science Audio (entry fuses are $28 … and prices exponentially increase from there.)

Please let us know your impressions of the Acme fuses. I have been interested in those Quantum Science fuses myself as they certainly have received some over the top reviews.

Will do (provided I get them). I don’t have SR fuse experience so my impressions may not be relevant to this thread. I have 4 fuses per monoblock so I’d likely start with the DAC or just the outlet / main fuse for A/B comparrison.

I’m of two minds on fusues - one is stay with the exact spec standard (Littelfuse, for example), and the other is to experiment. Not sure why I’m reluctant to jump off the high dive given the cost of my components, but something about fuses makes me wonder where I start and stop just when I’m trying to settle down and enjoy what I have rather than endlessly tinker.

Hey Girardian…

Littlefuse fuse wires carry more resitance than specialty fuses.
The fuse itself is as a faucet that control the water coming out
regardless of the amount of water the utilities supply.

So the specialty fuses offer way less resitance and resonance
allowing for the wildy varying dynamics in and of music.
Littlefuse and their likes haven’t though of or taken account
of this wildly varying dynamic demand on power.

So if the fuse limits the current flow…your entire system is
choked by standard fuses…

If you have a regenerator place an upgraded fuse there…
If not then your power amp, assuming you have separates.
You will hear a positive difference…no 2 ways about it.

Understandably it is preferred to keep the cost of the hobby
to a minimum. and if it sounds good to you…then simply camp
out at that point and enjoy…

One thing though the price of most specialty fuses is
way less than upgrading cables.

Best wishes in your journey!

Thanks. I have a PSA P20, as well as monoblocks. 1 for the regenerator and 8 between the amps, so starting with the PSA seems like the first step.

My thinking is that the most benefit will come from placing your
new fuse into the P20…as it will affect everything else in your system.

Should you later want to upgrade fuses to your amps…just do
the main fusees…while the rail fuses upgrades do improve…probably not nearly as much
as just with main fuse.

Then go from there…

Hopes this helps
Best wishes

Sound advice. purple to Regenerator first. If you have a P30. Checkout my P20 modding thread the 3M AB7050HF EMI with RF absorption mod with purple fuse is amazing. I would do EMI absorber prior to fuse. It is cheaper and offers better results you hear just moving the sheet to soak up emissions in the P20 that are spoiling your music.

I remember seeing this but can’t relocate the post,
Would you please repost the link to your P20 mod?

Thanks Vmax

Post 7 shows optimized location. I will be updating with inside photos after I stick it to bottom side of top cover it is either the front display, the transformer or class d amp that is laying down all the haze in output power outputs. You never know it was there until it is gone. Massive improvement in clarity.
