Yes, it is an official production unit, no beta.
Latest Firmware 2.3.5 / 179
I have just unpacked it and started the first listening session. Too early to give a final statement, but I do like it a lot. Silent, full, fat, clear but not too bright… overall very well balanced.
Very nice system…curious to know what type of Piega Coax speakers you have?
Thanks. I have the Coax 70 as main speakers and for home theater extension I also have the Coax 40 Center and Coax 10 for surround. The coax speakers are very high resolving and can have a tendence to sound a little bit on the analytical side, but in combination with the Nuprime Evolution One Amplifier, they sound just right. It is a hybrid digital amplifier that supports the resolving power of the Piegas, but also has tube like sound image. And I think the DS MKII just fits perfectly together with the rest of my system.
I currently use the Emotiva RMC-1L as my HT surround processor and in Stereo Reference Mode also as my stereo preamp, where the XLR inputs are only going throght the analog ladder network volume control, without any further audio processing. Maybe in the future there is room for improvment by adding a pure stereo preamp? But I need to have the possibility to test…
I have had several Piega speakers and absolutely love the “swizz” design and the natural open sound. The Coax elements are really special, the music coming from these speakers makes you feel that you have the musicians in your living room. Difficult to describe, but instruments and vocals are hanging in the air between the speakers, and the speakers disappear completely. I first started wit Premium 50.2, then Coax 70.2 ( same as you), and currently Coax 711. Rest of my gear is mainly PS Audio…P5 power, Memory transport, DS DAC MK1, BHK preamp and BHK300 mono. The BHK pre and 300 mono’s with tubes at the front is really a good combination with the Piega’s. I’m very satisfied with my DS DAC MK1 and wonder if upgrade to MKII will make a big improvement. I guess I have to contact my dealer to test it at home In my MKI I use the bridge for streaming Qobuz, so if I upgrade to MKII I also need to spend money on a new external streamer.
I also have a Denon surround receiver and uses HT bypass function on the BHK pre and BHK300 to drive the C711 front speakers. In addition I also have Piega center and back with ribbon tweeters and a sub behind my coach for watching film and blu ray concerts.
What type of streamer did you have before the DS DAC MKII?
Love my Piegas. I live about 10 miles from their headquarter (Horgen, Switzerland). I think you will win a lot just by moving away from using the bridge and going with an external streamer. I never heard the original DS DAC, but according to the feedback from several users in this forum, the MKII is a big step up. I use Roon as streaming software, because it allows me to stream Qobuz and also my local files while at home as well as on the road. My streamer is the Sonore opticalRendu, which supports Roon and provides perfect galvanic isolation of my home network by using optical ethernet.

My Piega Coax 10 surround speakers are placed on aluminum consoles.
My audio rack is placed on the side, back in the room.

I spent 4 months in Zug. Not too far off from Horgen. Beautiful area. I like the Piega speakers very much. But my favorite Swiss speakers are Rowen / Swiss HD. Their flexibility of setup and bass quality is what I like. Perhaps it’s also the enthousiasme with which Mr. Zurmühle in Luzern demonstrated the speakers to me.
Spent several summers around Niederhasli (not too far from Horgen huh), and some winters going up the Jungfraujoch. Absolutely loved it!
Made a visit to my local dealer in Oslo today to listen to the MKII dac. It sounded amazingly good, very open and detailed and very relaxed.Dealer gave me a good trade in price for my MKI so its very tempting to go for it🤗
Very nice! Clearly PSA needs to start making turntables to complete your collection😀
I love the wall sticker of the beach behind it.
Yes, really a nice listening room. The whole system sounded wonderful with the FR30’s and BHK600. This would really be my PSA dream system.
Yeah I’ve got the BHK 300s with my Tannoy speakers and the PST + DSDAC combo. Fantastic. Plus the PP 20 supplying all that great power
On the FR 30s, no less!
You won FR30’s
Trading up to a DS MK2 Dac is a NO brainer :))
I made a thing.
My college kid and his girlfriend were in town over the holidays, and I wanted to listen in the morning without bothering the whole house with the full stereo setup. So I built a little headphone listening station behind my comfy lounge chair.
I had a Schiit Asgard 3 headphone amp that I wasn’t using to full advantage and a spare Raspberry Pi as a Roon streamer. Pi plays to Asgard’s integrated Unison USB DAC.
The panel on the right side hides the Pi and cables (and a Chromecast audio dongle if needed for podcasts, etc…).
Headphone stand will be next. Found a cool mid-century looking one on Etsy if I don’t want to build one.
My kid made the lamp in shop class.
Result!
Nice work. Very clean.
Looks really good and perfect spot for something like that. Makes it easy to sit and listen.
minor update/upgrade… Thought of getting a stand, but the position of the chair makes a hanger more appropriate. So I made this out of an extra chunk.
Beautiful.
