Same time (and rough age) as my first - JVC LA 55 DD turntable.
Not quite so posh as the Technics, but fab nonetheless.
Much as I’m enjoying my new Rega record player, I do kinda miss some aspects of a DD - mostly the stroboscopic dots on the platter, and the lighty-up bits

Back then in 1979, I was 4!

Besides this Technics, I’ve also had near TOTL Denon, Luxman, Yamaha and Sansui DD tables, as well as several different Project and Music Hall belt-drives.

And that’s not including all of the various carts I’ve tried on those tables, everything from Pickering to Stanton to Shure to Adcom to Soundsmith to Benz-Micro to Goldring to Ortofon to Sumiko.

Of course, my father installed a Signet TK-7E when he purchased the Technics, and that was the ONLY cart he ever had on it. I still have that cart and seriously doubt it has any more than about 500 hours on it.

After loads of carts tried on this TT, this Audio-Technica seems to perform the best, at least for me.

In the end, I always come back to this SL-1700MK2. It’s the quietest, most stable, best detail retrieval, most dynamic.

they sure are pretty

After I bought the P2 I very nearly bought a “cheapo” DJ TT just to play with!

Edit - I should stress, I do not, and have never, “DJ’d” nor have I ever placed my hand on a record to stop it spinning…

I can honestly say the same.

Updated picture today. CLX speaker repaired everything sounding great! The turntable is up and running! I could live happily with the way the system is right now with no more changes. Tho 4 more No. 25 subs would be cool!!

Nice setup! Also, I like the way you think. How many subs do you have running currently?

Quick update… moved to almost all Luxman gear to go with the Magico A5. Enjoying this setup very much… I think it’s dynamic, impactful and musical at the same time. The revelation was when I added the CL1000 preamp, upgrading from the Luxman C900u, it added depth and air to the music. Additional dimensionality was added when I upgraded to Iconoclast RCA cable, moving from Zu Event Mk2 XLR, since the CL1000 is single ended anyway, no point going through transformer, so going back to RCA.

Next upgrade is the DAC and transport combo, Luxman D10X and I’m “done”. Until then, the Gustard R26 is filling in wonderfully.

Unfortunately I’ve moved away from any PS Audio gear, last move was trade in the P15 for Puritan unit, I found it to be better dynamics and clearer sounding than the P15.

Since the CL1000 doesn’t have remote control capability, yeah no joke, fortunately we’re living in an era of Arduino and 3D printer, that is an easy fix

The RELs are not connected btw… they’re going on sale soon.

How precise can you get with your makeshift remote volume control?

Just installed better full-ranges, now the MarkAudio CHP-90. Quite exceptionally good for about 72€ a piece.
Took some MDF dust in the nose, had to drill quite some space for the baskets in my “testbed cabinet”, previously called Audio Physic Tempo V.
The bandpass subwoofer, well, contrasts happily with the rustics of my home. Have considered a tablecloth.
But it does play well in home use! And with just 300W.

Don’t really need one, I got this from Etsy, only worked with Bogdan to customized it for the CL1000. Since this preamp has stepped attenuator (to control the transformer coupled attenuation) I wanted to make sure the remote control device can be configure to have the exact rotation needed for each step. Bogdan designed a pot in the back for me to dial in the rotation per click making tuning very easy. We also changed the design to a toothed belt instead of the rubber one, which can slip or react slowly and not very accurate. He 3D printed a gear to match the belt I sent him, so now it’s super accurate and responsive. We had plan to even 3D print the knob on the preamp if this solution doesn’t work giving ultimate control, but that’s not needed now. And I get to keep everything OG on the preamp, win-win.

Sweet set-up. Having the Luxman 509X, I can attest to the solid build and fine sound. Your set-up steps things up considerably.

Sorry for late response @Chops. I have a pair of No. 25’s running right now. The bass is adequate and they are perfect for the CLX speakers nice and fast! But 4 more would be sublime!
