I have an ancient pair of Epos loudspeakers in my UK home…
They still sound good!

The new 3-way Epos was developed by the Fink team. As far as I know, you have the most modern measuring options. Among other things, the resonances of the housing, the function of the bass reflex channel and many other parameters were measured and were included in the tuning. When you tap your knuckle you can’t hear anything. The speakers have a very balanced sound. Audibility down to the lowest pitches. Resolution, dynamics, timbres, everything fits, I don’t know what I’m missing. When you look at the speakers and listen to their sound, you are surprised that the manufacturer offers them for a fair €8,000 a pair.

Congratulations. In your plans what is the next step now?

Thank you! Well the guy I bought these speakers from has a Proceed amp 2 by Mark Levinson for sale I’m thinking I should buy. It has been recapped. I also have a set of speaker cables being made by NRG custom cables out of Canada. I do need decent USB and HDMI cables too. After reading here it looks like my best bet is Wireworld Starlight 8 USB and Silver Sphere HDMI cables.

Any suggestions?

Yes, go for the amp!!!
Regarding cables, listen to other forum members.

Don’t know that amp. Have you considered a Stellar S300 or a pair of used M700s or even better used M1200s? I guess there are good chances to find members here that are selling their pre-loved amps but you can try also asking directly to PS Audio staff in Boulder.

Before USB and HDMI I’d consider XLRs and power cords.

The Proceed amp does have good reviews by users of the amp. The views are that it has the sound of a Levinson amp but with better reliabity since was from the days that Madrigal owned the Levinson brand. If the amp has been recapped, it should be a no-brainer decision, as long as pricing is good.

I was planning on one of those amps but this one is only $500. I was also planning to use XLR’s once I had an amp that has that connection but I figured USB and HDMI would be first. Interesting you suggest power and XLR before the others. Kind of surprised actually, lol. Thank you!

Price is $500 which seems pretty good to me.

I picked up that amp and he threw in a stand. Very very generous guy. Sold me the Vandersteen’s for $300 and the amp for $500 and is letting me pay the second half next month. Oh and he gave me some balanced cables too!

I’m honored I can share with you all, Thank you :v:

Yesterday after hooking up the Vandersteen’s I wasn’t blown away. Very different speakers than I am used to. Much better imaging and they disappear much more than the Klipsch but were pretty dull. Like they were lacking some highs and the midrange wasn’t making me happy. Not actually sure why, maybe just much more rich than I am used to. I had my sub crossed over around 70hz with the Klipsch to fill in some midrange and I know my original Ice power amp is lean sounding so I figured I probably just needed time to adj. These things are fixed now that I hooked up the new amp. I’m just now getting a chance to really listen but that dullness has lifted. Pretty awesome he gave me a set of balanced cables after you had mentioned them. He also gave me a better than stock power cord so I have a good start. With the balanced cables I was able to take the RCA splitters out of the loop which probably helps.

Anyway I am starting to smile

Have the Vandersteens been idle for a while (i.e. in storage)? May take a while to loosen up those tweeters

Yes they were. I think these Vandersteen’s were showing the limitations of my amp and switching to this better amp has fixed what was making me unhappy with these speakers. Quite a big change with this amp and a real big step up with the combo.

Our “Listening” room is our “Living” room - aren’t those the same? It’s all one big system
The idea was to be as minimum as possible, so FR10 and Strata MK2, a match made in heaven.

Congrats, very elegant. May I suggest: please don’t stack your LPs one on top of the other, I’m suffering for them! (The rack on the left, under the Strata shelf, if I’m not wrong).

Sorry to cause stress, those are the high rotation ones and move in and out pretty quickly. It’s a bad habit though, I know. :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Thanks, Rob. I like your room and sorry for my impertinent intrusion. Enjoy your beautiful system, I guess Aspen speakers can bring the magic there.
