Very nice! Are the two screens: one for audio and one for video?

You need more TV’s. There is two football games on tonight and baseball. Lol

Where did FR20 go?

Don’t worry, the FR20 are still the main speakers. They are way too good to be replaced by the LRS+, but am still impressed with the LRS+. And am using them to help train my ears.

Yes, the tv on the bottom is mostly connected to visually see and choose what music is playing from cd. The upper tv is the OLED that I have been using for movies.

That’s what the other room is for with the even bigger TV, LOL.

I have a 4k Sony projector if you want to do a drop down screen in front of that window. Lol

Do you cover them during critical listening?

When I had speakers on the area rug, yes, definitely yes for the upper tv. With the FR20’s THAT far apart, there seems to not be sound reflections from the tv.

Have you ever tried to test the room without the TVs at all, just to determine if there are significant differences?

When I did that, it was immediately clear what was happening with and without the screen. My room is actually very small, so maybe that’s why.

Another factor is psychological, I discovered how more immersive can be the stereo experience without a visual distraction in front of me.

@luca.pelliccioli if @paul172 ever stops by, can try moving the upper TV.

As if being an audiophile wasn’t bad enough, I had to add videophile into the mix, lol.

I love my 901’s as their second life is my Surround Channel Speakers. Sometimes for fun. I’ll grab a chair and positon it at the front of my room facing the 901’s and do a quick Amp cable swap and have a ‘go’ for a few hours. @Paul might not like 'em and that’s ok. But I think what they do/did back in the day is awesome. If you ever want to try a miniDSP with them. It’s amazing. You can tune them to your room and get get even better results over the factory Analog EQ.

Hi Joe!

I’ve seen your videos and your posts before. I like what you’ve done with your 901s, and the mods you did to the EQ.

Speaking of EQ and DSP, I was thinking of getting that Deer Creek miniDSP for mine, but then remembered that I have a dbx DriveRack Venu 360 sitting doing nothing.

I bet I could use the dbx and get the same results as the miniDSP or better without spending any extra money. It does crossover (which I obviously don’t need), EQ, room correction and speaker calibration. So I should be able to get these 901s sounding really good.

Also, I can’t remember if those newer 901s you have are the Series 3 or 4, but it looks like you modded the grills on them. Or is that just some kind of odd wear on the grills?

Thanks for chiming in. I was hoping you would say something eventually about one of my 901 posts!:+1:

Just replaced the stock Bose Series VI EQ for the 901s with my dbx DriveRack Venu360. Dialed in a quick and dirty rough version of the stock Series V EQ curve, and wow! What a drastic improvement over the stock Bose EQ with this literal 10 minute tuning via PEQ. I have barely scratched the surface with this obviously. When I get more time, I’ll do more tweaking in the 8 band PEQ as well as the 31 band GEQ. I’ll also try out the AutoEQ (basically room correction) via the included RTA mic. More to come!

BTW, whatever the lowest frequency is in the song “Thanks To You” from Boz Scaggs, these 901s are now effortlessly reproducing it. They didn’t do that before, or at least if they did, those notes were really weak. Certainly not the case anymore.

Male and female vocals now have body and warmth as well as a fuller midrange. The top end even has more sparkle and air while also being more refined. No grit or edginess to the treble at all.
