Torreys Final Posted

There’s plenty of confusion, but Torreys Final is the most stable for the most people. There are some unresolved Bridge issues and I don’t know if they’ll require an update of more than the Bridge code. There’s also what appears to be a USB issue where the sound goes away after some time, but we don’t have it completely characterized yet.

The lettered version were the versions that had listening tests to pick the exact software. Torreys A was the first (pretty buggy) release. Then there were two (and a half) functional releases that didn’t have sound quality checks, then Torreys B, and then Torreys C.

There are numbers on the version screen for each major piece of software so people don’t need to be inventing (and confusing) various beta names. (See below)

As far as each component is concerned they all got monotonically better over the beta’s to Final.

FPGA 0.105 had the DSD channels swapped and

FPGA versions earlier than 0.112 had issues which would cause the sound to go away for some people (not related to the very similar issues in Torreys Final.)

FPGA versions in non-audio graded releases don’t match the ones in the sound quality checked versions.

Each release had incrementing firmware version numbers from 1.8.5 to 1.8.8 in Torreys final.

The version number 135 stayed the same in the betas and then incremented to 186 for Torreys final.

Here’s the list of releases (not everybody got every release.)

Torreys A: version 135 / firmware version 1.8.3 / FPGA 0.105(18) / USB 193

Internal: …

Functional 1: version 135 / firmware version 1.8.5 / FPGA 0.110(01) / USB 195

Functional 1a: version 135 / firmware version 1.8.5 / FPGA 0.111(01) / USB 195

Functional 2: version 135 / firmware version 1.8.6 / FPGA 0.112(01) / USB 195

Torreys B: version 135 / firmware 1.8.7 / FPGA 0.112(11) / USB 195

Torreys C: version 135 / firmware 1.8.8 / FPGA 0.112(11) / USB 195

Torreys Final version 136 / firmware 1.8.8 / FPGA 0.112(11) / USB 195

Torreys Final w/USB fix version 137 / firmware 1.8.8 / FPGA 0.112(11) / USB 33

In general not using Torreys Final will cause you problems, but as long as you realize that you may encounter some bugs and you don’t ask us to fix them you can use previous versions.
