A Japanese vinyl reissue.
What a band! Not listed on the cover is Claude Hopkins piano and Arvell Shaw bass.

The Teagarden side is excellent!

The cd version.

Listening to this one because it is mostly a reissue of a '66 lp where Willie plays a Jazzmaster, and I wanted to hear that. Willie got a great sound out of the Jazzmaster, which is such a versatile guitar.

This is the original LP that is reissued here with one newer track added:

Back to this one and LOUD!

The SHM-CD. Man it sounds good.

Inspired by Magister:

Elton John, Goodbye Yellowbrick Road.
Record 3. For the second time.

Back to Condonland. Great music, KILLER sound.

I have a number of versions of this one; this time it was the new Japanese CD.

The SACD

Jefferson Airplane: âCrown of Creationâ (Release date: September 1968).
I am listening to this album in CD format (I have 2) and LP (I have 3) â All are different. One LP is from my youth: a few minor surface noises, but it sounds awesome! The other LP is a recent reprint, it sounds excellent. The first CD is a run of the mill one, the other one is a 2012 remaster, sounds very good but can not touch even the old vinyl from 1969.
What I do is compare parts of a song over and over across the 4 versions I have, this lets you really dig into the differences. If you are not familiar with Crown of Creation, take a listen to âIf You Feelâ, or âLatherâ⊠these songs brought new game to music back in 1968. The sconces are beyond what most bands can manage to lay down â in any era. You can clearly hear Jackâs bass playing along with Jormaâs guitar â those two have had a long career playing music together, and it shows âŠif you can see Hot Tuna playing, donât wait till its too late! They never disappoint. Always a great musical experience.
Hey Vic, yes, Iâm a big Jefferson Airplane fan, and youâre right, the vinyl is the way to go. . .and there stereo AND the mono have their virtues!
+1 on the Tuna vicweast, and welcome to the forum!. I caught one of the Beacon Theatre shows in November to celebrate Jormaâs 75th birthday. Started with the basic power trio for a full set of Tuna songs, followed by an all-Airplane set with Larry Campbell, G.E. Smith and some other folks joining in on vocals. Great show and these guys still got it. They have released a lot of Tuna and Jorma shows as digital downloads, some electric and some acoustic. I highly recommend them.
