The first movement of this symphony was used for a one-act ballet by the American choreographer Crystal Pite, produced for the Royal Ballet in 2019. It was such a success she was asked to extend it to encompass the entire symphony, which ran last autumn. It was fantastic, as is this music.

I streamed this a couple of times and liked it so much I bought the 24/192 download today from Presto. The Pärt holds my interest, and the whole set is extremely well recorded IMO. The Bach is open and full of depth, unlike the overly opaque old Archiv CDs I have with Pinnock and the English Concert.
