I took delivery today of a Shunyata Everest…with hardly any break in time…this unit kicks some serious ass.
If anyone is interested… I will be selling my Denali 6000/s v2 in excellent condition.
It’s such an attractive device! Nice when it works well too no doubt.
Al…in all honesty… I’m gobsmacked buy it’s performance. Can’t wait to put a few hundred hours on it!
What power cord are you using on it? Everyone who buys one praises them.
The Shunyata Sigma v2 XC.
It’s been a great little rig. I bought it years ago, pre owned still in the box with the duette control. Added the Allo Shanti power supply and a Lifatec glass cable. With the EDO setting into direct stream dac it sounds pretty nice. BUT, as always, I want more!
The first picture is a serendipitous result of my most recent upgrade. My mother is suffering from dimentia and has many ups and downs. Today is the 10th anniversary of my father’s death. I put on Horace Silvers vinyl version of Songs for My Father and she was immediately attached to the music (she used to play piano). She ask who is that piano player, I give her the album cover and she notes “he’s playing songs for his father”. Maybe it is a recency bias but I swear to God on literally a Sunday that she is more connected to the music when the vinyl is spinning. I don’t think she would be paying attention to a CD case much less my tablet with my Room app on a screen…Oh and on a less important note I installed the Soundsmith Hyperion cartridge on the Acoustical Systems Axiom Tonearm on the Techdas Premium III. The journey continues.
Thank you for sharing; the system looks awesome and it probably sounds even better!
Great picture of your Mom.
Your system is way beyond us mere mortals!! Your mom must believe the musicians are in the room! Love this album from Horace Silver Quintet.
I was thinking about the SG-200 Strain Gauge. How does the Hyperion sound?
The system is a blessing and does seem to be an audio resurrection machine. A sort of back to the future device. I put the album “Songs for My Father” as a top 10 maybe top 5 jazz album all time for me personally. I thought of Strain Guage but heard that Lederman listens to the SG 25% of the time and the Hyperion 75% depending on the vinyl source. I figured that the inventor of both gives me a good indication of the percentage of medium that sounds better on each device.
I’ve been saving my nickels for a Hyperion. The idea of a cactus needle cantilever is irresistible!
Looks like a great day!
Got a great deal on a La Scala Opto MkII, something I have been wanting to try for ages. At this point, it is my top DAC ever. Would love to do a A/B on the PSA MkII some day…
The M700 has been installed and running since Friday afternoon. Even with such a short break-in it’s already proven to be far better then the Center amplification coming out of our Anthem 1120. Dialog is much easier to understand. There’s also much better blend across the front soundstage between the Fronts and the Center. Our TV/Movie watching has taken a giant step forward.
Ok not a SQ upgrade per se. But, got tired of attempting to move my 97 lbs apiece Salk floorstanders. I loathe cones/spikes on a wood floor, with or without cups. All the solutions at Herbies for gliders seem perpetually out of stock. Then, bingo. Happened on casters with precisely the correct thread and stem length on Amazon. Exact fit into the plinth inserts. Love these things. I can move my floorstanders anywhere, fine tune position to my heart’s content, then use the caster locks to anchor the speakers in place. Makes my audiophile life so much easier. Hey, maybe a SQ improvement since I no longer dread having to nudge the speakers to fine tune. Best 30 bucks for a set of 8 casters I’ve ever spent.
$30 for 8 casters is quite a deal. It’ll be interesting to see how they hold up.
Hey Owl, Any idea what the threads are? I would love to be able to move my Focal 948’s easier when I switch to my Maggies and for $30 it’s such a low risk if they don’t sound good or hold up for long. Cheers, Jim
For the plinths on my Salks, 1/4-20 x 1/2" (stem length). Better check with Focal, though. Wouldn’t be surprised if you need a metric thread. Rest assured, plenty of metric thread casters are available, too. Really amazing I was able to score 8 for my Salks at a total cost of $35.16 including shipping. A little shopping saves bucks.
I don’t have your speaker but have found even a few inches off the floor can often improve things. Less of that mid- bass hump. Make sure to keep it solidly coupled to the floor.
