Shameless plug for my for sale thread if you want to close your full SR fuse loom!

Are you replacing three Master fuses with your Purple?

I am waiting for Wenmanchen to tell us how bad the Master sounds, then I am going to buy your Purple

Nope, after MK2 upgrade, those two fuses pushed my system to the bright side. Reverted back to stock. After hearing what the stock fuses can do for my current setup compared to purple since both are fully burned in, I won’t be looking at fuse tweaks anytime soon.

I’m in the camp of wait and see also, but I think SR voicing their fuses to be on the analytical side, in the wrong system it can sound very wrong.

Here is what the SR did to my system after MK2 is burned in for 2+ weeks,

Sound in technical terms: SR=9.5, Stock=9, emotional involvement SR=2.0, Stock=9.5. So, you be the judge of which one is best. Can never know what a tweak would do to a system…

I have two AM M-1s and two Purples in the system now. Before I traded in my DS, I took out the M-1 and put back the stock fuse. I was surprised how good it sounded. in fact, it sounded as detailed as M-1 with a bit less mid-range boom.

I have not tried the stock fuse in MK2 frankly, I just put the M-1 back in since day one.

(Edit: my memory is fading. During Beta I had the stock fuse in it for a couple hundred hours before I switched to Purple. But after the latest FW update, I put in the M-1 and felt it was much better sounding than others).

You may be the one that SR rely on selling this high-profit-margin snake oil :joy:, in this forum anyway.

I may not be a good candidate for endorcing this fuse. My system is pretty tweaked out. I really like the way it sounds already… It will really take something exceptional to improve it further. It will be fun to see what this new snake oil Master Quantum can do.

I know you have M-1 in P20, or did you change back to Purple again? Anyway, SR makes this one because Purple was dethroned by M-1. So, kidding aside, many will be interested to know how it compares to M-1.

I hope it does not need a break in exercise like Purple did. That was not fun!

SR Purple did not work for me. My system is too glaring bright with Purple. I have only M1’s in my system right now so this new MQ will have to better the M1 in my system. It will take time to break in but I will get a good idea what direction it’s heading even new and cold. I just hope it is not brighter than Purple. We’ll find out Monday.

Congrats! You have a great responsibility now… many eyes in this forum on you!

Curious to know your thoughts about the brand new SR-M with your P20 and if you’ll do the next step, with your MK II too (that will be my first experiment if… ehm… when I’ll buy one).

Please let us know also the mix of fuses of your choice in your system between M-1, Purple and new one, more combinations available soon.

Enjoy

waymanchen11 … looking forward to you getting the new Master fuse tomorrow.
You mentioned above you’re using M-1’s exclusively throughout your system.
The SR blurb on the Master is that it should be used with a full loom of Orange’s or Purples so you may not be best placed to get the best out of the Master?
Looking forward to your results, please share as the fuse breaks in.

Yes I am using M1’s everywhere, but that’s only on the 3 components I have that uses fuses, in my P20, DS MK2, and PST. The SR Master is replacing the M1 in the P20 only. My system is balanced pretty good with the M1’s already. The SR Master brings more energy to the sound. Is is not as laid back as the M1’s. The images are more substantial and better separated. It does make the sound more engaging. But I think I will not get another as it can be a little too much like when I tried the SR Purple fuses. Only one of those and it was over the top in my system. Anyway, I hope that helps.

hi @waymanchen11

I currently have M1 fuses on Dac and transport, SR Purple on Diablo 250, and Master on P15. for an Aurender N200 and LPS Plixir, which fuses would you recommend?

Thanks for the help

Hi @Joselo75,

The SR Master gives you more of everthing and is well balanced as well. I would get all Masters if I can. But with budget restraints, I would at lease go for the Master in the Aurender, since it is a major source for sound quality, and M1 or SR Purple for the LPS. Between the M1 and SR Purple, and depending how your system is balanced is how I would choose. M1 is a warmer balance, and the Purple is more focused.

Hi,

thanks for the recommendations… now I am making money for the Bacch4mac, so I will opt for the M1 or Morsdo.

:+1:t2:

I put Master Fuses in my Nordost QB-8 power strip, my DS Mk2 and BHK pre. Everything else has purple fuses…

and how does it sound ?..

From my notes, and versus a well broken-in Purple Fuse, the Master was effortless, natural, intimate, and musical, with dead silent backgrounds, a huge soundstage in every direction, and improved bass speed, slam and extension.
