Anyone experiencing FedEx delivery delays

That’s very clever. I love that type of “social engineering”.

One time while I had the Red Card I needed to get to Naples IT “yesterday”. I went to LAX to the TWA counter, showed them the card and told them I needed to get to Naples. The attendant brought over a supervisor and between the two of them did a lot of hand wringing and finally handed me a boarding pass. The problem was the flight was full. As I was getting ready to go down the jetway a woman and a man were at the desk. The man was yelling something like “What do you mean the flight is overbooked?”.

After that I never doubted the power of that little Red Card.

It never hurts to have friends in high places.

I was really young but had a very senior mentor who liked me and another fellow I worked with. I am pretty sure we had perks others didn’t. Mostly because we were willing to pretty much do most anything he asked us to do. Including dropping everything and everyone and go to Naples.

Now I’d be more like “I can’t find someone to watch my dog”, or “the garden needs watering this time of year”.

Alaska Airlines had something similar in the 1980s-90s. Saved my butt a few times getting very time sensitive stuff to Boise inside of 2 hours!

in my area, the DHL has the best delivery records. In fact, I usually get the packages one day before their estimated time of delivery. They probably do that on purpose to make me feel good.

Lately I have had problems with Nespresso coffee capsules delivery. My order was “waiting for pick up” for over two weeks. I finally called them, and they reordered my order. Today I got another delayed email again. Do they use FedEx? I hope not.

If they have a machine at the terminal you may never get them.

I had two packages coming from GIK Acoustics that shipped FedEx on Saturday one package arrived yesterday (Monday) record time from Atlanta to north of Chicago. The other box is still out in the FedEx ecosystem. It should arrive tomorrow. Not bad for shipping to receiving time. Order date to shipping date is a different story. Not a Fedex issue but I thought I’d add that I order 4 small panels 10/20/2021 and they arrived in 4 months! Yikes.

Funny
Experiencing this now waiting for my M700’s
30 min away in Troutdale but now likely delayed until Monday…signature required…im working etc etc

@gd7288 Troutdale, the FedEx black hole.
Last week I had a package coming from Lake Oswego, OR to Moscow, ID. FedEx drove it some 800 miles south to Oakland, CA. Then Flew it to Spokane, WA, trucked it down to Lewiston, ID, and then up to us. I think they owe me some frequent flyer miles!

Well here I am with a contribution about our favorite shipping company. My package left Johnstown, CO 5/12 Traveled to Champaign, IL to Chicago,IL arrived 5/15 (which was also the scheduled delivery day). Roughly 1113 miles not bad. The Chicago hub is 48 miles from my house 5/17 it left the Chicago hub and arrived at the Grayslake hub which is 2.8 miles from my house delivery date 5/18. The last I checked tracking info stated delayed. Looks like the last 48 miles of the trip must be hell! I’m guessing maybe 5 or 6 days to make the 48 mile delivery. Maybe 5/19 is the delivery day! Wtf Fed Ex! Now I still have to pray it works once it gets here.

FWIW, I’ve noticed that inbound deliveries that are shipped by FedEx “Home Delivery” service are often inexplicably delayed once they hit the local distribution hub (Johnstown, CO in my case).

Could be for this reason:

Just for grins I went on the FedEx website and set up shipping for a 20 lb package 12" x 12" x 6" from Johnstown to an Ohio address. Here are the quoted rates:

Interesting how “Home Delivery” is promised a day SOONER than “Second Day” and for 80% LESS. Commercial accounts also negotiate significant discounts

I recall that FedEx makes use of contractors for some of the “last mile” delivery, presumably at lower cost.

Guess which service levels might be the first to suffer delays…

I had a shipment that headed out of one state on Friday, left a 2nd state early Saturday morning (2 to 3 hours away), fell into a black hole with no info available, then appeared at a local FedEx facility Sunday morning, and was delivered Sunday morning. Even though my package was technically delayed, I still received the package quickly, and on a Sunday, for ground shipping from another state.
