A few members have reported having difficulty uploading pictures, such as including a CD/LP cover as part of their post.

If you are having difficulty uploading pictures, please provide the following information:

  • What browser(s) are you using when you have a problem posting a picture?

  • Is this happening in every category or a specific category? A specific thread?

  • Please provide a link to a thread where images are not properly loading.

  • Does the problem continue after clearing the cache of your browser?

This may be the same thing:

Just clicked/tapped on reply and get a squashed up mess for the edit window

Sometimes only happens when hitting the upload image button.

In addition the floating banner moves and it’s links stop working (will try and get a screen grab next time I see it.
Happens in all threads I try and post in. Last few days.

iPad, safari page saved to Home Screen as an independent web app.

As well as the difficulty loading images I have to constantly refresh the page because images are hidden, not just the content I’ve posted but others to.

EDIT:
Another issue.
Example: - Chris posts an album that I own which I’d forgotten about so I decide to play and post the album, but I cannot copy and paste from Chris’s post/photo, (‘Sorry, there was an error uploading files’) if I search out the same album photo that I’d posted previously on ‘Spinning thread’ I can copy from said photo
 ‘This is a recent phenomena’.

With iOS devices, disable “hide IP” (from trackers) in Safari settings.

Well I don’t know if @Elk has unstopped the drains or the safari settings change did it but my issues seem to have stopped :slight_smile:

Edit - spoke too soon. An intermittent problem - every engineer’s favourite :wink:

I should add - it seems to work perfectly on:
Linux mint desktop, firefox browser, and always has.

It did work fine on android (Chrome) too, it’s only iOS I ever have browser weirdness with.

It does - clear cache, refresh, no change

Then
 it will “correct” itself sometime later. Only to return in a day or two. I also have the same refresh problem Dirk mentioned above where I have to completely reload the page at times to get images to show up again. The other day that didnt work for quite a while - it just stopped showing any images to me.

How about some good feedback? I admit I only use two browsers, Edge and Chrome, but this forum in my experience is very well managed and image uploads are always flawless. Good job, Elk. I do have one perhaps off the wall question. I’ve noticed my images appear (I stress appear, could be fooling myself) sharpened when uploaded. Is any image processing being done to sharpen our uploaded images? I’m prepared to be told I’m imagining things. Won’t be the first time. :slight_smile:

Hey @Elk, I just now had the site spit out a 504 Gateway error - lasted only about 1 min.

Same here.! 504 Gateway error - in a blue box - popped up on my phone twice (fleetingly) within 10 mins
 Really struggling to load images.

I think firefox on mac (and on iOS devices) still uses the apple webkit to render the pages (by order of Apple). Reposted as meant to be a reply :slight_smile:

No, Firefox on Mac uses the Gecko engine. But you are right about iOS - everyone is required to use the webkit engine

@Elk, the latest issue. On my ‘large’ PC screen in my listening room - the box at the bottom of the ‘spinning thread’ page where one pastes the images has shrunk to nothing and all but hanging off the bottom of the screen. :slightly_smiling_face: Difficult to navigate 
 and it looks weird

Some additional questions for thoe who have been having problem uploading pictures:

  1. What is the OS and browser version you are using?

  2. Have you tried visiting the site and uploading images in a private browser session (i.e., with any add-ons/plugins disabled)?

  3. @joma0711 please let us know whether the issue happens in regular Safari (not the home screen web app).
