Fuses are one of those contentious subjects in our hobby. You heard what you heard and bottom line that’s what counts.
Over on Audio Style forum there is a multi page, multi day argument on whether a person can hear the difference between DACs. I don’t want to bring that argument here but I definitely heard the difference between my MKl and MKll dacs and people on here certainly heard differences with their 512s. They are ridiculous over there.
I used the word contentious purposefully. The argument is as old as cables make a difference, DACs makes a difference, going way back to Stareo Review days if amplifiers measure the same then they shouldn’t sound different…
Okay, I’m over generalizing but the point is the same. I didn’t mean to open a can of worms, whatever that means. All I was saying is that I understood Ron’s ambivalence perfectly.
Not much difference HIFI or politics. People often have beliefs they hold with religious fervor.
Their beliefs give them a sense of moral, intellectual, community standing. They have The One Truth. All others need their help. Just smile and move on.
Yes but with HIFI you can hear differences. Otherwise why would we continue to upgrade our systems? There is a point where we find deminishing returns on the money spent. We reach a point where more $$ only provides small benefits. We have all reached these points but how would we know if we can’t hear differences. I just don’t understand how people cannot hear differences.
I have heard fuse difference more on source components than amps. Wait, I have never tried an expensive fuse on amp yet. So I cannot say that.
I may try one on Gryphon D333. But why? I do not find anything needs improvement on D333.
The ridiculously pricy fuses made tiny obvious improvement on PMG 512 and MU2 (and bigger obvious improvement on DS MK1, 2, PST, P15, and my previous streamers 
). As the components got better, the needs for fuses maybe less, I believe. Of course, if ones’ system is ordinary enough the fuses do not matter either.
I also found interesting that on many audiophile fuses, the first couple of years they were effective, but after that the improvement has greatly diminished. They do not age well in my system it seems.

The “deniers” on audio forums usually invoke confirmation bias. “You just think you hear a difference. Blah, blah, blah…” I’m a sociology professor who has taught courses on research methodology. Does confirmation bias exist? Yes. Is it so powerful and so pervasive that we can’t escape it? Hardly. Accusations of confirmation bias amount to the political equivalent of “that’s fake news.” They also assume that you hear only what you expect to hear. I’ve done countless listening tests, and I’m frequently surprised by what I hear, which means that the test disconfirmed my expectations.
My counter is “you don’t expect to hear and you don’t.” Rather ineffective as their bias is so strong.
Exactly. Indicating that expectation bias goes two ways usually blows the mind of deniers.
I’m a believer in fuses but have mostly given them up for the “no fuse” solution of a Swiss Digital Fuse Box and a Sluggo (I’ve tried about five of those and the Graphene Sluggo from Verafi Audio is the very best for my system).
Superior sound to the audiophile fuses I have tried, my favorite of which (and most recent released I tried) being the Audio Magic M1. I still have one of those in my main system (in my transport) but one day. . . a Sluggo may reside therein.

What do you do about cables in and out? Do you try to standardize on the cables? All AC12s for exmple?
Yes–I have found I prefer a full loom of one type of cable to mixing and matching. In my main system all power cables are PS Audio AC-12. All my interconnects are VooDoo Cable Stradivarius mostly Amati, one Cremona. With the SDFBs an AC-12 plugs in and an AC-12 comes out to the component. I had enough AC-12 and found a few low priced ones (and one free from a kind member) to feed the SDFBs I have in use. I keep an eye out for more for my other systems.
I’m getting in (2) SR Holographic fuses for my Rowland 925 mono amps.

And that’s the big reason for me why I don’t use more than one SDFB (to my P20). My equipment rack is crammed into the left rear corner of my sound room. If I were to put SDFBs for the remaining six devices there, well frankly I don’t think it’s possible. Trying to route six more power cords would be a nightmare. I figured the P20 probably is the best “first pick” for this, and I use carefully selected (two) power cords for it, and similarly selected cords for the rest of the gear. As I get older my PITA/performance ratio gets lower and lower.
That’s why I haven’t sprung for a SDFB. Maybe some day.

I’m glad I did. They have really helped my system, really more than aftermarket fuses promised to.
Same experience here. Fuses replaced with graphene sluggos and either SFDB or breakers. Purples and Master were happily sold off.
I’d also switched to a full loom of QSA Lanedri Veridion Discovery, so adding an extra power cable before/after the fuse box was cheap and gave additional benefits.
