With computers, it is often suggested to turn the power off, unplug the computer, and hold the power button down. This drains the capacitors, etc, of energy.
Can this be done on PS Audio devices? Flip the power switch off, unplug the device, and the flip the power switch on. Leave it for 30 seconds or so, then plug the device back in.
I’m not sure how the devices are wired, so this advice might not be worth anything at all, but it’s just a thought.
Paul, I have loaded the new firmware and am very impressed by the improvement in sound - better focused and greater presence.
Would you please add to the fix list ability to navigate Blu Ray audio discs. At the moment, it will play the BDdiscs through but cannot select tracks. The ability to play Blu Ray audio discs was an important feature in my deciding to purchase the DMP. Ability to play DVD Audio discs would be nice but not critical.
Mike
Are you having any issues with SACD playback? I didn’t at first but I’ve twice now gotten the loss of a handshake and PCM playback, and have had to twice reboot the DMP to restore the handshake. Not ideal.
I would love for Blu-ray Audio playback to work and/or work better but though that was also a reason I bought the DMP I’ve come to realize that this is just not possible and we won’t be seeing that.
Just setting up my Direct Stream DAC now, and can’t get the DSD handshake for SACD’S. Tried rebooting the DMP and the DAC. I’m using the I2S connection and have a lock, but no DSD playback with SACD’S.
Power switch at the back…keep it off for 30 seconds, then back on. Repeat the process 3 times. This has worked for some people. Welcome to the DirectStream, this is just how they behave sometimes.
Daylight is burning on your 30 days. I suggest you call PS Audio Customer Service Manager and work something out. The DirectStream should be stable, it’s a mature platform. If it’s not, you have a decision to make. DMP is in a state of flux, we know they are working to make it better. A little more tolerance is due on the DMP for the time being.
James at PS Audio bent over backwards to upgrade me from the jr into the Directstream DAC, which I personally picked up today at PS Audio. I’m hopeful that I can resolve this issue quickly when I call PS Audio tomorrow.
If you are in close proximity to PS Audio HQ I’d be asking for a PS Rep to swing by your place and demonstrate everything working as it should. Anything that doesn’t work they can keep swapping out until they find one that works. That would be a reasonable request from a customer who bought directly from them.
