As your DMP is new and you have never had the “DSD handshake” it may be that the IP address needs to be registered and a code sent to activate the handshake. That was the case for mine during the beta period. Customer Support should get it going for you. . . .
Thanks and appreciate the kind words. We’ll have some measure of improvement yet to come but the problem with BluRay discs will likely never get to perfection because of the inconsistency in the BluRays themselves. They are all over the map and without any consistency in their meaning making it next to impossible to navigate. But we’ll do our best.
Let me get James to give you a hand. I doubt it has anything to do with the DMP. Sometimes the handshake doesn’t work because the DirectStream isn’t be recognized. It should be an easy fix. Sorry you’re having a problem. Might be a few settings.
Gary, did you happen to try the other I2S input on the DAC? I remember yesterday not getting the handshake right away with input 1, but when we tried 2, it worked immediately. When we went back to input 1, it then started working as well.
I tried both inputs.
Gary,
I had the same problem when I first attempted to pair the DirectStream DAC & transport. I called support and from the serial number found that I had one of the early DACs and they had problems with some of the early units, returned the unit for repair. Might be a good idea to contact support and see if your unit is among those which need the board swap.
It’s a brand new unit, do these things not get tested at the factory?
It’s just a setup problem since we confirmed it worked. Can you give James a shouty and he’ll walk you through.
Of course they get tested, Brodric. Why would you think they wouldn’t? They go through a barrage of tests, then final check, burn in, and are tested again. I don’t think these are helpful comments when someone is having a problem.
Our purpose in these forums is to offer up our support and help for customers having issues, not making them feel bad or trying to cast the company in a poor light.
There can be any number of reasons for this issue including connection problems, pairing issues (units are not tested as pairs), settings, etc.
The best way to solve this is by contacting our customer service experts and they’ll get you the right answer quickly.
Yeah…I’m sure they do…but it seemed like he’d exhausted all options except have somebody else have a fresh look at it.
DAC’s and players are interchangeable, right? I mean, once a pairing has occurred those 2 devices aren’t locked together from that point under some unique secret handshake?
Just installed 3,06 and it sounds great…
And I no longer have to open and close the tray to replay a disc
Yes, that was fixed in 3.06
Yes, indeed. 3.06 is a HUGE improvement in sound quality and functionality. Don’t forget to hard boot the DMP after loading (power switch in the rear) and it should give you great service.
Hard boot ?
Shut the unit down completely, wait perhaps a minute, and restart.
Done. Sounds great Thanks !!!
Thanks Paul. At the moment I use a modified Oppo 105 BD player for my Blu Ray audio discs with numerous tracks. But the sound is not as good as playing them through the DMP. I look forward to be able to play and navigate them on DMP. I’m not fussed if the occasional disc is problematical.
Yes, thanks Elk. Shut the unit down from the rear panel power switch.
We will do our best for you. Thanks for the understanding. It was always our intent to build the world’s best sounding/performing DC, SACD, DVD, Datadisc transport and I think we have done that. That it also plays BluRays is a good thing but was never our focus. We’ll do our best for you.
