I wish the IRS Vs could fit in my house.

My room is a completely converted three car garage, about 33’ x 24’.

What are the latest stats? How many IRS Vs are still in existence and what would a set sell for if ever put up for sale? Just musing …

Would anyone consider them today if Paul wouldn’t own them?

I would have to hear them first and I haven’t. They would have to enrapture me; but I suspect there are many other speakers that could. I would not hesitate to start my audition journey with them.

For ‘my’ ultimate speaker set, if ever found and that may be a moving target, I would design and build a room around them.

Oh, I checked my Powerball winnings and they are $0. Back to the dream-board. :face_with_head_bandage:

Funny how your speaker plans and aspirations change over time. Have you decided to use your current Wilsons as rear surround sounds with the impending arrival of your new ice cream cones?

Avantgarde ZERO 1 XD (active speakers)

I’ve been able to spend hours and hours listening to the Avantgarde via a friend and just love them.

These are terribly ugly to some people but I love the look.

I haven’t changed my beliefs that Wilson speakers are the correct choice for me. I believe in the long run this will be the case. What I have decided is that my audio guru, who has picked such wonderful devices and cords for me thus far needs to be trusted further. I will accept his thoughts that my Wilsons are not up to the quality of the rest of the system. He has defined every other aspect of my system it seem wrong to ignore his thoughts on speakers. The fact that he is purchasing a pair himself (probably from what he made off my purchases) speaks to me as well. The Wilsons will stay close at hand while I listen to the Spirits.

Also, a month ago when Wilson announced the Alexx V many pairs of unsold Alexx original model speakers went on sale on Audiogon for $75k a pair. This month they are $72k a pair. If the Vivids don’t thrill me …

You and I both sat in the room and listened to the Vivids. I was desperately trying to decide if I even liked what I was hearing. It was so alien. Hopefully when it’s in my home I’ll love it. If not, they go out the door like a Holo May DAC.

I’m a simple man…

The finish is gorgeous on those! Wow.

I already have those wall hangings.

Oh wait, you mean the speakers. Those are WAMMs.
I’d settle for Chronosonic XVX.
I’d settle for Alexxs. (First generation)

There were only 58 pair of IRSV ever made. I doubt any are out of commission.

I stick to my god old Audio Reference 126DC (it is 40 years old, I have a problem with one of the boomers and the manufacture of the boomer can fix it for $150) and my own pair almost DIY with the Audax gold tweeter. Those are cheap but I like both.

Diapason Dynamis :star_struck:

A tough question for me, since I’m lacking first-hand exposure to the rarefied end of the spectrum, and my space is smallish. So I’ll go with maybe something from Focal’s Utopia line, or possibly Maggie 20.7s.

Very likely, a dark blue or black version within the next two years!
