Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition

I believe it makes a difference. I am putting one in mine.

I don’t care.

Then why did you @ me?

It will come to you eventually.

I’m holding my breath

Come on guys! Cool it. We’re all friends here.

Sorry if this is redundant, but I’m still unsure of the DAC in the Eversolo. I am thinking of replacing my SGCD with the Eversolo as the new DAC as well as streamer, using the SGCD as a pre only. Does this sound like a good upgrade?

Current system:
SGCD, Parasound A21+, Blusound Node2, Wharfedale EVO 4.2’s, twin SVS SB2000 subs. CD transport: Audiolab 6000CDT

Very good revew

if i was gonna do it, I’d do two things…

Get the Eversolo Master Edition ($1200 or so vs $850)

Get the Teddy Pardo LPS upgrade ($500)

I’m no expert, but that’s what I’d do if I was gonna use the ES’s DAC.

Order it from Amazon and try it out for yourself and make your own judgement. If it doesn’t work out send it back.

That’s what I’m doing. Also, place it on some kind of vibration isolating feet and upgrade the power cord. Everything I’ve done so far has increased its performance. I have high hopes for the Teddy Pardo power supply. Increasingly looking like the option to go with over the LPS.

I had the SGCD for awhile then jumped up to a Holo Audio Spring 3 DAC using the SGCD as the pre, and the jump in sound quality was amazing. Lately I’ve done a couple of comparisons between Spring 3 and the Eversolo internal DAC playing music from the internal drive I installed and streaming. Although the Spring 3 DAC is still better, the Eversolo DAC is very close.

Regular version or Master Edition?

I roll with the regular version.

I guess what I am asking is do peeps feel that the DAC in the Eversolo is an improvement to the DAC in my SGCD?

I really wish I could help you but I’ve never heard the SGCD. I’m listening to my Master Edition via CD (Joe Black & John Abercrombie - Coincidence) and it’s sounding mighty fine using SPDIF in. I must say though I’ve never used it as a preamp. I would hesitate to use its digital volume control. That would be a no go for me.

If you wanted to be 100% sure, I would say if you went Master Edition plus the Teddy Pardo LPS, that would seal it.

Yes. Even without an LPS.

Al, it’s been 10 days since you posted your thoughts on the Teddy Pardo power supply. It really struck a cord with me as it seemed to address the improvements I’m hoping for. Do you have any additional thoughts. My plan has been to make the jump next July as my manufacturer warranty will expire then. However, I am also considering an interconnect upgrade and a used pair became available. I have a choice to be made. I’m leaning towards staying with my original plan and go with the power supply upgrade. Can’t sneak both past my wife’s watchful eyes.

The installation of the Teddy Pardo was a snap. It provides a great deal more power than the original supply.

I like not having a power supply inside the A6. It cannot add noise if it isn’t there. The other power supply that is swapped in is cheaper, maybe a bit more if a pain to install. But it is half the price. I prefer they Teddy Pardo approach. The results are stunning.
