Thanks!. I kind of like its industrial-retro-aeronautical look. My place is pretty eclectic so it seems to fit in.
I saw that chair, and its accompanying pieces, at Restoration Hardware a few years back. It was so evocative of an old safari/animal-hunting comic book series I used to read as a child that I dubbed it the “Bring 'em Back Alive” collection.
Nice looking Breedlove, BTW.
You nailed it, RH is who I bought it from. I like the dub"Bring 'em Back Alive" collection! I think a little nostalgia was involved when I picked it out.
Thanks on the Breedlove. I have a couple of older ones and they are really nice guitars.
You folks are absolutely correct. The Eames is not “sonically” good but it is darn comfy for this old man. What is a sonically good chair for instance? I bet it is not comfy.
Archie Bunker and All in the Family
Rocking this sucker.
Nice, low back…
Very cool industrial design. It’s a great looking chair. Not lovin’ the high back though, particularly with the reflective leather upholstery.
It’s so comfortable, I’ll make do. Actually it seems to act more like an bass absorber.
I covet an Eames. Yours is lovely. Have an Ekornes Stressless recliner, but an Eames is timeless. Problem? Price. Every time I’m tempted I remind myself the chunk of green I’d be shelling out is worth a major equipment upgrade for my rig. I need to win the Powerball.
I would kill for an Eames with footstool, they’re just so utterly iconic and comfortable too
It was the series Frasier that got me hooked on that chair, with his up on the raised steps near the glass doors onto the balcony.
As a design professional of 40 years’ experience, I’ve loved the Eames Lounge Chair for decades, and have come close to buying one on more than one occasion (including once when my wife wanted to get me one for Christmas), but I always stopped short. Then my brother bought one a few years ago, and uses it daily for his listening chair. But when I tried his, I found it less comfortable than I expected. Perhaps it requires a healthier lower back than mine, but in all honesty I find the cheap IKEA Poang to be much more supportive (though I find them equally difficult to get out of). That’s not to denigrate those who own and love the Eames - only that it turned out to be a poorer fit for me than other seating options out there.
The Eames chair is a rightfully iconic design but I never liked chairs with backs that exceed ear level for listening. However, if anyone is giving up their seat, I would gladly take one.
Someone give me an Amazon link for a good listening chair please
Amazon sells the Barcolounger version of the Eames chair in several styles. I bought one about three years ago.
Thanks looks like a beauty. As usual, Amazon is giving me suggestions for cheaper knock offs. A mistake waiting to happen for sure!
