One more issue observed via iPhone. When trying to post, the window does not scroll up as you advance the number of lines in your post and the bottom of the page eventually obscures your text. One has to hit done and review your draft before proceeding.
I am willing to be a Cache Theory acolyte. Currently, I am agnostic in that regard.
Would someone be kind enough to explain how to clear the Cache on my iPhone/in Safari?
I worked almost 10 years for a software company; originally I was an experiment: put an operations guy into development. Went from there to product management and was involved with new functionaly development and directly interfacing with the client base â commercial banking institutions.
There was a staff of a few hundred people spread throughout the planet. We had a Quality Assurance department with a couple dozens of people and I would sometimes work with them doing their job testing whatever. It included fixes across multiple platforms from Windows to mainframes.
As much as we tested and then introduced something new or a fix there were almost always problems. We called them âissuesâ and sometimes weâd fix something and in the process break something that previously worked just fine.
It may sound like Iâm being an apologist for PS Audio but my intent is to try to explain that sometimes it takes a while.
Interesting theory about cache, despite many of us clearing our cache repeatedly and having a clear understanding of development.
There are three choices: 1) revert the changes made until they are understood 2) do more significant testing to understand them 3) ignore the user and watch them disappear
On iphone: go to Settings > Apps > Safari and scroll down to âClear History and Website Dataâ
I dont think its a matter of us not understanding that things break - what is hard to understand is reporting a problem and simply getting a âWorks for meâ
In between my attemps at a musical life I was the head of Engineering for one of the major linux companies. I get this stuff deeply, I really do. But part of being in Linux was also having to understand community and building strong skills in listening to that community because we were nothing without them. Early in the life of the company we would flippantly say things like âWorksformeâ or âsubmit a patchâ and it was wrong to do - and never helped make the product better. Now, I understand that in this case this is not PS Audioâs product and in fact they simply spend money on it as opposed to getting money from it - nonetheless, if they do want it to continue and reap the benefits of a strong community, the site needs to work adequately for everyone
Clearing the Cache/history for Safari on my iPhone does NOT fix the wrong/disappearing home icon or the failure to scroll up as I type so I can see what I am writing.
More bugs to be worked out in the forum âprogrammingâ in my opinionâŠ
It looks like Iâm one of the lucky ones. @Paul, the changes work well on my end, and I appreciate your effortsâand, most importantly, your patienceâthroughout this process.
Understood. Ignoring the client base is never, ever, a good thing either for the company in question or its consumers. Guess I missed the âitâs not a problemâ company response in this thread.
I definitely didnât get an âits not a problemâ - just something like âI tested it and it works hereâ, or silence to particular issues some of us have raised.
You understand the frustration from both sides of the fence because of your professional background and current circumstances. It doesnât help a bunch from your side now.
Fingers crossed itâs resolved sooner rather than later.
