Kef Reference 1?
Looking for option with similar tweeter design, but yeah plenty if open up conventional dome tweeters.
ah gotcha
Infinity Modulus, LOL.
Was purchased over 33 years ago.
Does not go down to anywhere near 30hz like the FR5.
Does not have anywhere near the same magic of other FR speakers
Maybe?
If the Borresen’s are in the discussion then this would be my first choice.

An other good diy speaker for your money.
The Purifi drivers with their unique surrounds are currently among the best available on the market.
Here is a manufactured loudspeaker by Joachim Gerhard. He founded the Audio Physic brand and was considered one of the best loudspeaker developers. He developed great speakers before he sold the company for health reasons. Now he is developing a few new loudspeakers that are being manufactured in small quantities with the Rose carpentry company.
By the way, a frequency range that is meaningful to me is given as -3 db. At -6 db, human hearing is too insensitive.
For those of you who are not yet that deep into the topic. The Purifi drivers are currently at the top of the driver list. They have some innovative innovations. What is striking is the special bead, which ensures that the membrane produces as little distortion as possible and vibrates cleanly. Many feel that the Purifi drivers offer a more neutral sound than most Accuton ceramic drivers, which are touted as the ultimate in neutrality. The Viawave GRT-145W ribbon tweeter also has a neutral sound. The combination of drivers should make it difficult for the competition, as they play quickly and precisely in high resolution without any inherent sound and distorsion . I don’t think it will be easy for an FR5 either. As a DIYer, the fun starts at just over $/€2,000 per pair. Up to $5,000 there is still enough scope to use very high quality crossover components from Duelund, Jantzen, Mundorf, Milflex. Also high-quality internal wiring and connection terminals, for example from WBT. (There is even one with a vibration damper) A suitcase this size doesn’t cost too much. I think a speaker like this is at the top.
Always thought these looked promising.
These are really good. A friend has them and I have to say that I have never heard such a dynamic sound from any bookshelf speaker, regardless of the price. Also passive radiator design. Thats the key I quess.
XD or standard edition…?
Standard version hooked to Simaudio Moon power amp / Audio Research preamp.
Perhaps these, also?
They have consistently received very good reviews over the years.
I’ll wait for the FR5’s. The rest are just justification!
This might be a competitor. Ribbon tweeter.
I assuming the PS Sprout would be a good pairing to drive these?
Perfect pairing, yes!
Thanks Paul, I am stoked. I have been waiting (secretly as I heard a rumor), for the past few years for this loudspeaker and then to combo it with the PS Sprout, can’t wait.

What’s the sensitivity on the FR5s? Apologies if I missed it!
Huh, I was under the impression that there was a different bookshelf speaker coming out for the Sprout and that the FR-5 was not specifically for Sprout. (I guess saying, in a way, that the FR-5’s should be driven by something a bit more substantial. No diss to the Sprout, I own one and love it).
@Chris_Brunhaver did actually mention that they would be working on a “Sprout” bookshelf speaker in one of the posts about the FR5, so…I think it is coming.
I am very intrigued by the FR5, but really want to see what a Sprout bookshelf from PS Audio is capable of doing.
I am always so impressed by my Elac UB52s…
