How important are footers?

Josh from Stack Audio contacted me and said he will send out replacement inserts (correct weights) for my AUVA EQ without additional charge. This is great news since I believe they are very effective in damping vibration, like their big brother AUVA 100.

I also got the news my Grimm MU2 will ship out from Europe to my dealer. Once they have it (next week?) they will send it out to me as soon as possible. It used to be a two-month backlog, but production has caught up, and I should get it before my daughter’s visit. But frankly she will be way less excited than me.

Very important to have GOOD footers for EACH component but people just try to believe what they want to believe.

I have tried many footers but have settled to the latest from Critical Mass Systems from the State, which cost US$880 each footer. Their entry level footer cost US$345 each.

As you do too.

I have all electronics on Mapleshade maple boards and brass footers…

I would love good footers but they are beyond my means at the moment. I estimated that average decent footers under my streamer,PST and DSD would run me around $800. Maybe down the line. My system sounds good just the same but…

Start with PST, that would make the most difference. The only problem is the cd tray bottom of PST is not flat, so you cannot use big footer such as Isoacoustic Orea. XSSH metal/ceramic ball footer from Aliexpress is more reasonably priced and effective, so is AUVA EQ.

These work pretty well and cheap to try. Put them under component’s chassis and not the factory feet. Many dealers sell the same product as does Amazon so shop for best price and dealer reviews.

How does this relate to deploying footers?

Thanks in advance.

I just ordered three sets of them because they were so favorably priced and I’m awaiting delivery. Will be interesting to see how well they do.

There is not enough room to put one Orea Indigo at either the left corner, or at the center at the front to support PST. But XSSH and AUVA have smaller top area, so there is room to allow the footer to be placed.

I just ordered 3 sets also from aliexpress. They are much cheaper than from Amazon. $21 as opposed to $35 CND.

10-4.

Thanks.

Why Indigo, I think that 4 Bronze should be enough under the PST. If memory serves well, because I removed all of them.

I sold all Bronze Orea footers, so I do not have any left. But with Orea I like Indigo more than Bronze even though it has a higher weight rating that is needed. I also like three better than four for most of my components (except M1200 uses four).

However, this is clearly not working with AUVA EQ. I bought CAS2 thinking I may like it better based on experience from Orea. But they have a more precise vibration weigh rating, and the sound was a blt too lean as a result.

Has anyone else tried
4Pcs HIFI Audio Speakers Amplifier Chassis beads Anti-shock Shock Absorber Foot Pad Feet Pads Vibration Absorption Stands
from Aliexpress or Amazon or elsewhere? I figure for the minimal price I would give them a try.

I have them on order. They were shipped on the 23rd so I’m hoping they arrive by the weekend. I figured the same as you. Got them in silver.

Like Ron I use VooDoo Cable IsoPods throughout my main system, and under my speakers. I didn’t pay full price for most thank goodness. I find them to be the least colored yet quite effective isolation feet I’ve ever used. I’ve tried a lot!

A few components in other systems fare well with the old school Aurios. And others are very well served by a product no longer made by Herbie’s Audio Lab: his Iso-Cups with Deep Green Moss balls (these are great in cases where the sound is a bit too lean). And I also have found these cheap Chinese feet (with the ceramic balls, I haven’t tried the steel balls) to be quite nice: 4pcs HIFI Audio Speaker Amplifier Pad Steel Ball Scroll Anti-Shock Absorber Feet | eBay

You can get very effective vibration control footers that are much more reasonably priced. I purchased the Vera-Fi Audio footers and I’m quite happy with the results.

How many footers should I put under my PST? DSD? Aries G2.1 streamer? I will be using the 3 ball bearings footers from Aliexpress. The cost of these footers make them easily affordable and they have a decent reputation online from my research. I should mention that my DSD is on the top shelf of my rack with my PST on top of it with my Aries G2.1 on top of my PST.

Although not the most elegant solution small bicycle inner tubes placed under are a very cheap and effective method of isolating components from their surroundings.
