New SR Master fuse review vs AM M1 and Purple to follow

I just got two bad holes in a row, the group in front is too slow. Lol!

David and waymanchen11, do you put the “s” end into the holder for the Master?

The power comes from the back of the fuse holder so I put with the R facing the cap. I did try both ways in the beginning and felt that indeed, that’s the correct way, but you can also try both ways and see if your system reacts the same.

Thanks, The S is facing the back now. The first minute the sound is a bit murky. SQ is more towards the Purple sound without the thinness. I will run it for a few mimutes then switch direction.

Sorry Donald but I forgot which way…

Best thing is reverse the orientation try again

It’s what i had to do…

That should work best

After 10 minutes, I switched the direction so “R” side is in the cap. It sounded just like S side with a bit murkness, but then the sound opened up after 10 minutes. I had each direction for 10 minutes and I prefer the R in cap too, so far. Tomorrow I will switch again to see if I hear any difference.

The sound is closer to Purple than M-1 for sure, it is not as warm sounding as M-1, but sounds richer than Purple in mid and high. With proper burn-in it should sound great. We shall see.

Colin at CableCo confirmed to me within the end of next week they will ship the SR-M and other fuses.
I’m not in a hurry.

Hmmm somethings up…

Either way should not have been murky …just that in the correct orientation the sound should’ve
been on a whole nother levet…

On a long shot…run your clean wave for a 60 second run and set to sine wave…

There should be a definite improvement and not by a little…

Let us know how it goes Donald

Please post a pic if possible, it’s always easier to understand the fuse direction for people like me!

You will have a new room, new router/PS, new ethernet/wire/fiber/boxes, new locations for speakers and racks, new isolations, and now new fuses. I do not think you can tell any improvement from individual segment. But you would have a much better sounding envirnoment.

I may take a picture tomorrow after I switch direction again. Now the sQ is getting nicer!

David, the first minute the sound was murky, it sounds focused now. I do not think there is anything wrong with the system. The electron needs to find the right door to get in

Ooooh my bad Donald wasn’t even thinking the system…just thinking if you new SR Master is
at issue…

Also if you haven’t yet…run the clean wave on both your power plants for 60 sec each one.

There are times that musical definition is not where I would like for it to be and running
clean wave clears things up …

Well, after a few hours I switched the fuse direction again. Mainly because the sound did not wow me like others felt. I did not want to wait until tomorrow if I could hear better SQ with other direction now. Sorry guys!

The good news is the Master has timbre correctness and a richer sound than Purple. In time it will be a great one, I am sure.

After the switch, the “S” in the cap seems to sound a bit fuller so I will keep it this way. Here is the picture for Luca, and by no means this is the “best” direction because it is against what Weymanchen said. It is, however, according to SR’s sheet the flow direction (S to R).

Because I turned my system away from the M-1’s warm and mid-emphasis sound, the Master now sounds a bit lean (not like the Purple’s lean but just less warm). It needs a few days of break in because the sound is a bit close-in, especially in soundstage and focus, in my system anyway.

In the coming days I will have quite a few re-tweaking on supports, footers, and tuning rings to find the right balance to find the true Master.

Can you drive a ball further if you use a SR fuse instead of a tee? It may add more power to your swing.

Kidding aside, that’s why I say to try both side and decide which works best in your system. Having the S at the cap goes against the grain and can indeed make the sound looser and warmer if that’s what your system requires. My system is sounding better than ever today, but I don’t know if it’s further break-in of the Master or my recent change from Antero 178 to 198. Seems that has a positive effect on the sound also, it sure didn’t hurt the sound. The sound space with this recording of Bill Evans “Sunday at the Village Vanguard”, seems even clearer, with the drummer behind the bass player with it’s own space and you can feel the power and energy of those drums as he wracks away on them! And the piano on the right has such rich tones and resonance just like a live piano, but with greater presence than ever before! And the bass player, the snap of the strings has such body and the transients has such air and liveness! The problem with doing many changes about the same time is you lose track of what’s doing what. I guess it really doesn’t matter as long as you are happy with the results.

I like the 198 sound better too!The Master seems to need a bit longer time in my system🙂

I turned on the system again around an hour ago. The Master fuse has made a big improvement after 8+ hours in the system.

The background is a lot quieter than earlier, which improves everything. This reminds me of Omega USB cable at the begining, and if it improves like Omega then I am in for a treat! It is nothing like Purple’s break in so far. The sound is quite different from the Purple too. It is much fuller and richer. I hear more warmness in sound from the Master too. It may turn out to be the new King soon!
