The purchase was based on you and David’s recommendations! I’m sure I’ll be happy with it. Thanks guys🙏
Yes the folk over at The Cable Company are really customer oriented good people to
work with…very helpful and listen to their clients…
Best wishess
I’ve always dealt with Evan who is great to work with.
So I’ll put one out there for Steven quite the dude!!
Best wishes
The Master should arrive on Friday, that is quick!
I received my second Master Fuse today. For now, it replaced a Purple in my BHK Pre.
As of right now, I have a master in my Mk2 DAC that is actually destined for my Nordost QB8 power distributor, but I’m waiting for a friend to come over on Friday to help me move some stuff so I can gain access to the fuse in the QB8. (I’m old and my amps each weigh 65 pounds.)
The 12.5 amp Master Fuse now in the MK2 was originally intended for the QB8 powering the whole system. (Yes, I know, I’m literally playing with fire by having a 12.5 amp fuse in the Mk2, but I couldn’t wait to hear it!), and I guess move the second Master back to the DAC, while replacing the purple in the BHK Pre.
All this is presenting a slight dilemma. Listening now to the two Masters in the Mk2 DAC and the BHK pre, clearly shows that adding a second Master Fuse into the mix is greatly beneficial to the overall presentation.
And that dilemma is: do I now order a third Master Fuse for the BHK Pre?
My Magic Eight Ball says “SIGNS POINT TO YES.”
Somebody stop me!!!
Oh wait–I’m single and retired. I might pull the trigger again tonight. I’m in Northern California and Alfred and Betty at Highend-Electronics in SoCAL are super quick with their shipping
P.S. Sorry, Luca. These things are really good…
Has “gateway drug “ written all over it. My crap detector pegs it’s meter when the manufacturer says “you only need one”. Admittedly, however, a love a good fix as much as the next guy.
Oh Andy, David and Waymanchan… you are like the song of the Sirens for Ulysses!
Just placed a best price request to CableCo:
SR-M 500mA for the MK II
AM-1 3A for the P12 (already have one 5A in my P20)
SR Purple 3.15A for the Statement
The funny thing is that next weekend all the components are going to be placed in their boxes because of scheduled room works since Monday 20th to… ehm… almost 2 weeks. Enough time to let the new fuses be shipped. Anyhow I will force myself (?) to add them to my system step by step, one tweak at a time. To find out how the new room sounds before any other tweak.
I’m excited for the good times ahead!
Hey luca am I reading correctly? Something doesn’t seem right
…hmmm
Best wishes luca
Sounds all too familiar…
Best wishes
My bad! You are surprisingly right and focused on details… P15 not P12!
Good try luca
but…
Nope guess again
Best wishes
oops I’m totally concentrated but I can’t find the mistake… I’m really getting old, a little clue?
Naw luca not getting old at all…not allowed in this hobby world of ours… :grinning
What I thought I saw and didn’t quite capiche…
Is the choice of the AM M1 for the P12…my .000002 highly opinionated choice would have been
the SR Master for the P12 and P20…
As these will be the most impactfull overall in the system power…
Thank you for putting up with me…got nuttin better to do
Best wishes
Ah ah ah. Thanks. I prefer starting with the SR in MK II, once I understand how it sounds there I can decide if and where go further.
I love the AM-1 in my P20 at the moment and the general balance in my system mixing and matching SR Purples and M-1s.
As for the new P15, feeding my M1200s, I need to follow recommended specs = 3A. SR only provides 3.15 and not 3. That’s why I have to go for the AM-1 and not the SR-M.
Now I capiche…
Enjoy enjoy enjoy luca…this rather mature young man is quite an opinionated character…
who at times …well leave that one alone
Best wishes
dchang,
As promised, after all the cable swapping and power cord swapping, my system finally settled enough to where I can make a safe judgement what it would sounds like going forward. I then put in the Gustard 5A into my P15 and swapped out the SR Purple.
Right off the bat, the Gustard has the same reslotion as the purple and added a small layer of warmth. With further burn in, I’d say the Gustard will beat the purple hands down only based on sound only without looking at the price differenctial. Too bad they don’t make a 1A and 2A, or I’d be ordering more.
After this experiement, I question how much of the preceived difference from fuse changes are based on pychoaccusitcs.
Even on the golf course I’m reading your email! Nice reading and looking forward to hearing more!
lol, there is nothing more to it, I can’t discount my SR Purple break-in experience, but this time, there seem to be none. Not here to dismiss SR, maybe, we all need a SR master to breakin our brains, then after that, a 20 bucks Chinese fuse will sound just as good? Who the hell knows.
Donald you are supposed to be golfing not reading some ludicrous thread about fuse
that could blow the top of your head …
So go get that hole in 1 …reading for later on …
Best wishes
