I had brought this up a couple of years ago. Indeed it goes beyond hobby and into the world of fetish. Consider the lust for absorbent mats, fuses, wire, dampers, spikes, and the like.
Vacuum Tube Lust, for example the NAT Magma.
better than a lava lamp
Sonically, and a great room heater back-up option.
will it roast marshmallows?
Most likely could roast marshmallows…
Weedy could give us a report on that…
Best wishes
From a distance of 6 feet, and weiners as well. I got a nice sun tan listening to a pair a while back.
Wow …from fuses to marshmalloes and weiners as well…only
in this bin of looney tunes characters…um er asylum
Imagine pulling off a thread like this one with such a goofy collection of
replies on avs or asr or or…ya’ll know…
Happy internment everyone…

as long as I can keep the remote under the straightjacket, will be fine
Well said Al!
A P20 in my system is feeding all sources and pre and it is a keeper I don’t feel the urgency to test any different alternative.
Amps (almost M1200s) are different animals and in my particular case they had some beneficial effects from the Puritan. It might be due to a synergy with other components and the presence of a P20 in the chain.
Like cables, tubes or fuses, the right balance of flavors from different accessories is mandatory to better fit different tastes. Too much bright or analytical (cold sound and fatigue) on one side vs too much veiled and dark (dull and mudded sound) on the other.
To be honest, if my P15 hadn’t had a buzz issue I’d never have purchased the Puritan and probably would have never replaced it.
AI’s input is always valuable! Curious to know how do you like the Puritan with DAC. Is the trade off working in your system?
Yes this set up is on my to do list/test. During the weekend I’m going to test the Ultimate cable, then the only DAC-Puritan combo.
Does the SR master fuse also suitable for power amps? I am using Naim 250dr power amp, and I struggled to put AM M1 in the fuse holder. Therefore, I would like to change to SR Master
What do you mean? If the fuse is the correct physical size, it should fit right in. The brand will make no difference.
I did not express myself clearly. I would like to ask if anyone tried the Master in the power amp and how it sounds.I read that SR recommends the SR is better go to DAC, but I would like to upgrade the fuse in my power amp.
SR also recommends the Master for regenerators. In my P15 it’s doing wonderfully.
As the regenerator works like an amplifier, I’d be surprised it wouldn’t have a beneficial effect in your amplifier.
Welcome to the fun weisi…
Good question as I have tried several fuses in my Parasound JC5 amp.
My experience with the AM M1 fuse is that it yields a warmer fuller lower
end and mid, but while having very good presence and air. The SR Purple
fuse yields a quicker better detailed presence. Two very different preentations.
With these it is a matter of choice.
Now with respect to the new SR Master fuse…I bought 1 for my P15 power
regenerator.
The SR Master outclasses all other fuses that I have also run with my P15.
So the SR Master stays in my P15.
Revisiting then the Purple vs the AM M1 with the new SR Master in my P15…
it is as if the whole system went uptown in a great way…
Having tried both the AM M1 and SR Purple in my JC5…the Purple wins
out with better presence dynamics and detail.
Would I get the new SR Master for my JC5…probably so…though the SR site
states you only need 1 SR Master…because it will benefit the entire system.
SR recommends if I recall…either your dac or power source the best 2 places.
So hopefully this will help you get a better insight…
Best wishes in your audio journey
So far I have Master Fuses in my Nordost QB8 power distributor and in my DS Mk2.
SR Purples everywhere else…
Thanks for you detailed reply.
I bought a M1 already but unfortunately the fuse hold is a bit too small and the M1 is actually quite thick compared to other fuse. I struggled in installing the M1 in the fuse holder. Actually I’m quite angry because I am also using M1 for the fuse holder in circuit box and it sounds quite good, this is the reason I would also change the fuse of my power amp to M1.
I used Purple and find it is a bit to smoothy and seems like there is less dynamic and bass compared to the orange before. But maybe it’s because I didn’t give it enough time? I think the purple should be around 100 hours already and it’s now in the power supply of my pre amp. For me it stays in pre amp maybe better.
Seems like only Master could be the candidate for my power amp. However, according to the description of the SQ, it is better for source. Therefore, I’m a bit worried if it also fit for power amp. I personally prefer sound which is a bit warm, analog but also with details, M1 fit definitely, but unfortunately the size doesn’t fit… So I would like to ask how is the middle range and dynamic of Master, and if it is musical? Or it is more goes to the “hifi” direction with emphasize definition an so on?
