It really is system dependent. I have tried to lSR purple and sr master multiple times. Each resulted in changing sound to something that no longer sounded musical during burn in and especially after setting. It is weird because other tweaks I often get coparable results that others do.
Each system is different…
For those who are just now joining this thread’s discussion, it is recommended
you read through my post’s from the very start to get my first hand impressions
of the SR Master fuse.
If readers will look at the top of this thread and read my findings on the
SR Master you will see my comparisons along the way as the burn in
hours-time increased.
The SR Master continues as I have commented on at the start of this thread.
For my system remains at thr top of the heap of fuses including the Audio Magic
M1.
While the Audio Magic M1 offers more “warmth” in comparison to the Purple,
it loses out to the Purple where overtone attack decay are concerned. Yet the
bass and mids are very much there with the Purple.
Yet the SR Master is far ahead in all these areas…warmth is not lost in my system.
Size, depth xyz axis, attacks sustains, decays, overtones are far better with the
SR Master.
The SR Master fuse continues to play at this high level as of Feb 26, 2023 when this
thread first started…
Best wishes everyone, happy listening
It depends on which master you referring to. Is it the Audio Magic or
the SR Master that you say is fuller?
The Audio Magic M1 fuse does present a fuller body but at the expense
of the beautiful overtones that do come through with body using the SR Master
fuse albeit not as warm as the Audio Magic M1
Hope this clarifies M1 vs Master as both use similar names “Master”
Best wishes
Thanks for this, davida. Actually I’ve read your posts with great interest. Yes, the SR Master is the one I meant.
I’m thankful you read through the post…more importantly
that it was of help to you…
Best wishes friend
shhhh - October is . “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” on the Purple and “Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off” on the Master fuses expected to be announced on Monday
If there will be a buy 1 and get 1 gree master fuse deal, that’ll be the drug that’s hard to resist
Simpy not good enough
there does seem to be a pattern to the way Syn work on fuses makes you wonder if there isn’t another in the works between the master and purple …
…the Murple? or the Baiter?
So it’s only $900 for two fuses? Lol
Better get a few spares just in case.
What a deal!
Too bad I only need one of something. I’d be tempted by the Master at half the sale price of two, but only need one.
Not sure what to do about a fuse for this amp. I’d go M1 but I know it’s slightly too big for the clip that holds the fuse in, already broke one of those in a different component (fuse still fits in the clamps of the holder though, whew).
Hey lonson…
One thing I noticed with the Audio Magic M1 fuse vs SR Master
While the AM M1 gives a fuller bass- mid…the vibrant action of bass,
piano strings, vibrancy of the mids is simply not there as with the SR Master.
The SR Master yields greater transparency while giving the bass and mids
with better definition…with my system.
Yet once again ymmv with individual system’s environment…
Best wishes everyone…
Thanks David. Thing is . . . I like the fullness of the bass on the M1 better than the Purple, and I have loads of “vibrancy” in plucked strings etc. (maybe coming from the Purples I have in my preamp, which takes 2).
What holds me back from the Master is that reports seem to indicate it goes in a “forward, vivid” direction where I’d like my system to go a little bit more in the M1 direction.
I’ll figure it out. Still considering the Digital Swiss fuse box as well. I’m at an okay spot right now with the Purples and M1s upstream and an Acme in the amp; can wait and ponder.
lonson…I boo booed on something…
I should have posted in general instead of a reply to you…
Sorry for that one my friend.
As in all forms of culinary arts condiments to suit taste…ooops audio condiments…
hmmmm
Best wishes
I don’t think you did any boo boo and certainly you don’t have to apologize. Your impressions and enthusiasm for the Master have been very helpful for my decision making.
lonson…as always you are a gentleman and a scholar…
Thanks
Best wishes
My system was turned down for a week during vacation. It was running overnight (w/o amps on), and the system sounded better this morning. But it still needs another day to fully recover (the ZenWave power cord seems to need more than one day to warm up from my demo experience).
I will put in the 2nd Master (used) in BHK pre tomorrow afternoon to see how it compares to SR Purple in there now. Purple likes the pre better than other fuses in my system.
