Good luck, Al.
It’s okay, the stock fuses are back in. As a bonus, the stock fuses are readily available and cheap. This fancy fuse stuff is embarrassing.
I once mentioned audiophile fuses in a phone conversation with Steve Deckert (Decware).
I could actually hear his eyes rolling back in their sockets.
I came to the conclusion that I’d mess with only one fuse in my system for aftermarket - the one in my P20. That’s the limit for me. It’s already bad enough with cables and footers! I don’t need any more reasons to listen to my equipment rather than music (my personal view, not to throw stones at anyone else).
I wasn’t throwing stones. I am a cable guy. Lots of people can’t fathom that. I was willing to try a fuse in my P20. I wish I had stopped there as you correctly did.
I knew you weren’t, Al. Just used the opportunity of your circumstance to throw in a thought from my own camp.
You two are really bad people!
My friend, just try to bring your system to the next level so you will be happier. Selfishly want to know what impact will a top cord do to PSM.
I have a 1 amp small fast blow if interested Al.
Luca, did I understand correctly that you preferred the Puritan filters to the PS 20? The report about the defective P10 and the damaged power amplifier here in the forum is also hanging in the back of my mind. The Puritan cannot output an error voltage like a defective power plant might. And if the sound is good, I’ll consider switching from the P10 to a Puritan. And I could also play with changing the sockets and high-quality internal wiring. Additionally, the Puritan grounding.
Have you checked High End Electronics? They are having a closeout sale on M1s.
Thank you!
They have limited stock, not including what I need. Lots of slo-blow.
I am no PS Audio apologist, but if you are referring to the thread I think you are, I think the jury is way out as to whether the P10 was a victim or a perpetrator.
FWIW.
Yes, it’s this thread that pops up every day. But I also heard of someone who was able to dispose of all of their subsequently connected components due to a defective power plant. I also had a defect in my mono amplifier about a year ago. The AVM technician said that I had probably been listening too loudly for too long. It was probably a rectifier and the subsequent transistors were damaged and had to be replaced. I didn’t think about it before. But the thought it could happen.
Yup!
Luca has quite a different system now. But for my PSA gear system (mostly), there is no doubt that if I can only have one of the two, I will select PSA generator. DAC seems to be the most beneficial one with PSM-156 and it could be that DAC is more sensitive to digital noise, and PSM is doing a better job in that regard. However, when I plugged BHK pre additionally from P15 into PSM there was a loss in musicality. When I added more gears into PSM, the life was sucked out of my system.
With the different setup of course, there will be different preferences. Luckily, I have both and was able to find a balance to my preference.
Remember the two Puron conditioners I got? These two little things would enhance both generators and conditioners of their strength, particularly on the soundstage and quietness. Luca, you should consider.
Did you also create a comparison/report here that I missed? When I compared power filters last month, it was mostly about Audioquest power filters, which are disproportionately expensive. The Puritan is extremely cheap for a high-end audio component and if it works well, it’s probably a very good deal.
I’ll see if I can get a Puritan to try out. Then I can see how it works with my system. Whether it is additionally for the preamplifier and can complement or replace my PS Audio power station. I would also like to test the Groundmaster stuff from Puritan.
No comparisons sorry. I agree with Donald, the PSM excels feeding the digital components in my experience: DAC most of all, then the server/streamer and switch.
I bought a second one because I have a rack on the side wall and another one on the front wall.
Did the phrase Face Melt come up?
