My thoughts are the power cord before my regenerator or even a power conditioner definitey makes a difference which it shouldn’t and the power cord before and after my step up transformer to my preamp also makes a considerable difference, and I don’t know for sure, but the power cord before the SDFB should by all means change the sound also. If I get a SDFB, I definitely would put a $5k power cord in front of it.
In that case I will stay with the fuse!
Reading your post makes me wonder what would happen if I used a fancier power cord between the wall and the Puritan, instead of the Classic+ and Ultimate.
That damned C20 IEC is preventing me from buying an incredibly expensive STEALTH cable, it would be a real disaster if it didn’t improve the Puritan’s performance… ending up with the sad list of unused things collecting dust in the famous audiophile vanity drawer!
Nike says…
Great men think alike!
I have one of these. No excuses. 15 amp to 20 amp IEC Adapter – VooDoo Cable
I am very sad at the moment. I am sad about Audio Magic M-1 fuses. My Gryphon Ethos requires two fuses. I had two M-1 fuses in it. One just blew. I don’t wish to put an M-2 fuse in one channel, and an M-1 fuse in the other. The fact that Audio Magic saw fit to stop producing the M-1 is not the best decision they could make for me, and end user, with a device that requires a matched pair. The stock fuses are back in now. If I can’t get another M-1 the stock fuses will stay in, and my strong dislike for fuses will increase dramatically. Hopefully Jason at the Cable Company can and will save me. I fear he will tell me to just get one M-2 and not worry about it. Bah.
I blame you guys.
If you have a 800ma, small, fast blow M-1 fuse you aren’t using please let me know.
I would be concerned with “why the fuse blew” and just one not both before putting another $$$$ fuse in it.
All this fuse talk…bad Juju…
Hmm, don’t you think such an adapter would compromise the test? STEALTH connectors are designed to provide the best performance and I presume they should be part of the equation.
Well I would guess the Puritan is wired with metal worse than the VooDoo cryogenic treatment copper. I thought you were doing just a trial with a stealth from another device. . If better you can buy a correctly terminated stealth later.
Audiophile god is giving you a chance to finally hear what a good fuse can do. My suggestion is to get three M-2 so you have a spare (in case AM comes out a M-3 next time you blow one).
Voodoo has a silver version of adapter, and it could potentially hurt less of your Stealth.
I’m making every possible excuse, my friends! But you really know how to push me in the wrong direction…
Just imagine how great the combination of Stealth plus Puritan! You know the stock cord (even ultimate) is the weakest link of your system!
$100k digital gear was all choked up by a Puritan cord, not to mention your MSB amps had to go to the wall.
You know the answer!
The person who made the video about the Puritan upgrade to Furutech inputs also used a different connection cable and said it would be better than the Puritan cables. Imagine a Puritan with Furutech NFC Rodinated inputs and outputs. The internal silver-plated wires are exchanged for, for example, Furutech dps-4.1 cables. All with high-quality Furutech spades instead of the simple connectors.
I dropped a lightbulb when I was replacing one the last time, that tells me my mechanical skill is less than changing lightbulbs now.
A technician who can repair audio components should be able to carry out such a conversion without any problems.
Just my guess that it might sound good. Luca, Donald who is first?
Maybe I should see where I can get a Puritan and compare it to my PS Audio P10. Luca also took the step of becoming a Puritan.
Then it occurs to me that Luca has two Puritan filters. He could best compare what difference such a conversion makes.
Hugs all around. Can you hear a difference?
If you can push really hard, I have a large, slow, 1.25A M1 that’s lying in the drawer of forgotten tweaks.
I know why it blew. Leave it at that.
The Cable Company proudly has no more M-1 fuses. The M-2 is better he kept repeating. Sigh.
I found another source that let me order exactly what I need. But at a $50 premium. Lets see if they actually have it and ship it.
