Digital cable? Hmmm. Power cables come in digital and analog form? I guess I missed that detail.
How can you tell and I thought it could be converted from this to that via the thumbscrews on the input end. Hmmmm. Would a Pink Faun server count as a digital or analog device? Hmmmm.
Iām going to hold my hand for now with purple fuses in six components. I am getting excellent sound. I suppose I could upgrade everything but for now my system is well balanced. I am very much enjoying my system and I donāt feel that there is any weak link which requires immediate attention. I am still excited with my system and I listen to it all the time.
Among many tweaks and upgrades I have done lately, I would put the fuse near bottom of list. But your enthusiasm about M-1 make me really curious about how much difference it will make.
One limitation of all SR fuses is on the soundstage, at time even Purple sounded a bit thin. AM M-1 will improve it without sacrificing any other area is what I gathered from your description. This alone could make it worth the price (thanks Jason to make this more āreasonableā pricedā).
I got some nice piano music ready for the kingās arrival, then Iāll go with a hot jazz list I gathered from the jazz thread elsewhere.
I tried my lowly Stealth V10 in the chain and it really shine at DAC, but it did just okay at generator and pre. The funny thing is mine is supposed to use on amps. Also, like many other cables, you will need two or more to show their true strength.
So next time you should send 2 or 3 stealth for others to tryout
The version you sent me says digital right on it. It had none of the thumb screws to convert it like the recent versions. Else I would have played with those features for sure. My preamp I use it in RoomPerfect mode. All analog is converted to Digital then back to analog thus it is clearly why it excels in that position. I can run my preamp as analog but it sounds way better with room correction enabled. Hard to accept to some but it works amazingly well stuffing my huge speakers in a room they can overpower with bass otherwise.
Yes the Stealth Dream V18 LE Digital cable needs to be on a DAC or streamer for purpose optimization.
Thatās an understatement. Lol
Yes the soundstage is wider and deeper but not exaggerated with the AM Beeswax M-1 compared to purple. The bass is more fleshed out and natural relative to how it interacts with the room. A bit hard to explain. Not overly taught but not crazily exciting the room. The purple sent me-to get out the microphone rebalance the room correction software. I havenāt felt need to do that.
The M-1 is a very balanced sounding fuse, everything comes out at the right amount of power and clarity. Enormous natural soundstage. The Purple is also not too bad, but it is a bit strong in the presence region that got me reaching for the volume control at times.
I ordered a 6A for my P15 (5A needed) to replace Purple so I can compare the two. The Purple will then go to PST where AM Ultimate resides for another comparison later. That sounds like a fun thing to do and a meaningful upgrade.
Boys and their toys
Iām joining the party. I have my order in for a M-1and Iām waiting for it to ship, like Luca.
Heās in Italy and Iām in the UK. Expecting mine in about two weeks.
I currently have the Purple fuse in my mains plugs and P20 regenerator and the sound is first rate.
Iāve only ordered one for my P20.
(I checked with Audio Magic previously, they currently canāt do UK mains fuses.)
Like everyone else, Vmaxās enthusiasm is infectious.
(Glad heās not covid-19).
Vmaxās experience with the M-1 regarding his home theatre is exciting.
I too run a combined music / home theatre system and Iām looking forward to see what the M-1 does for mine.
Tweaks come always together, so this time I want to proceed step by step in the right order: any suggestion?
- XLR Dragon 0,5 mt. (Next week) from DS DAC to BHK Pre
- Telefunken/Mazda NOS tubes for M1200s (already arrived) following dchang05 advise
- The King M-1 fuse (next week) for the P20 at the moment with the stock fuse, so anxious to try following VMax enthusiasm
Maybe Iāll share one of my sheet numbers parameter to duly take note of differences.
The sheet comparison would be interesting to see since doing your cable evaluation you will have a great baseline memory. Sheets full of data will probably be welcomed versus what some may term my full of sheet enthusiastically flowery descriptions!
Oh without your descriptions never enlightened my fire of temptation regarding the King, so once again thank you for your effort. You are the Ambassador of Tweaks in this Reign. Period.
@Elk We all hijacked this purple fuse thread and moving these posts to an Audio Magic M-1 fuse thread would be more fitting to the fuse designer would be proper thing but we like to drift. But it seemed appropriate to get out the word when it was an unknown.
Itās strange when checking into the Purple thread and all you see is phrases on M-1, among other tweaks.
I suggest starting with NOS tubes first because you are familiar with Dragon already, also they should take less time to break in (or not if they are really " brand new"). We all know how long it will take to break in a Dragon.
Save the fuse later and I hope you do not rate it the highest performer among the three. Then it will be the ābargainā upgrade of the year.
Mmh well said, so I can start from what Iāve already at my disposal⦠as Al says we have no time for patienceā¦
I ended my vacation days, since Friday am ready to tweak again in the basement, canāt wait. It seems will be a tube weekend, stay tuned.
Just to be clear, for P15 is this the configuration?
Qty: 1
Brand: Audio Magic
Product: Masterpiece M-1 Fuse
Fuse Value: 5A
Sizes Available:Small
Choose: Slow
Jason says 5A is too low and recommends 6.3A
Any thoughts? @Vmax help please
I ordered a 6A for P15, and I hope it is not too low. The Purple was 6.3A.
Some reported they were blown more easily than stocked fuses. So, it is recommended to order one with a higher rating.
