SACD Transport software update

I searched that box for the remote like a kid with a giant Crackerjacks box looking for the toy. It wasn’t there. But not to worry; Joey said she’ll arrange to have one sent. And as I said, I can live without it if I have to.

Otherwise, all is good. I love the unit.

Haha, understood. Apologies one didn’t make it in the box but glad Joey is sending one your way. Great to hear you’re loving it so far!

We can certainly have your transport brought in and looked at. Barry is aware of a few issues where the transport won’t send the native DSD, but it is working properly for most folks. This makes me think that it is a specific problem with your player.

Hi - My DAC is a Directstream and the cable is a 1 foot Wireworld platinum 7 HDMI. I talked to PS Audio this afternoon and they said the engineering people are working on a FW update to fix this problem. They estimate a couple of weeks/end of the month release of the FW update. Apparently the 2.2.0 FW fixed some things, but broke something else in the program, something I had to deal with in a “Former” life as a professional training instructor in vibration analysis and Predictive Maintenance. It is Really Fun to be teaching how to use our software in front of 25 people and it crashes!

Maybe a downgrade to V 2.16, to see if the problem is still there???

Hi - I spoke to Mark At PSA yesterday, who said that the engineers were working on another FW version that will be coming out in the next 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile, it is really a vast improvement over my former transport, the DMP. Thanks!

I assume? Question. What XLR output should be used to DAC if not a double rate DSD dac? Left?

Doesn’t matter. The output is identical unless it’s playing a double rate DSD file.

Hi had to use Ethernet to download new update. WiFi and USB wouldn’t respond. Fixed the tray from sticking when opening

My PST is running 2.1.6 but it will simply not update to 2.2.0 using a USB stick.

Another problem is that the USB front input will simply not read large DSD or FLAC files (e.g. 1.5 gb). Is this an acknowledged issue?

Yet another quirk is that, if the unit is left in standby mode for a couple of days, operations “freeze” and the unit must be turned off at the rear and in again. Weird?

  1. FW update with usb. Maybe try a small capacity USB key with FAT32 format, with only the image.bin file.
  2. Don’t know about large size dsf file, I only tested the typical DSD64/128 files less than 500MB. James should have answer on the file size limitation.
  3. The standby freeze bug was famous among beta testers, it is fixed in FW 2.2.0

Update at the back PST (usb fw) Can also be done by internet. See first post by Paul, top of this page.

Ronald

Just to be certain Peter, you are using the back port for the update with USB? If so, try using a smaller stick. Folks usually have more luck with that. I actually don’t have the size limitation for one file. Now are these single files that are 1.5gb?

Afternoon
Anyone have the checking for firmware update screen which does not move forward? Hardwired straight into the router, network shows connected.

Have powered down (back toggle) a few times.

Thanks
Shaun

Update: tried the thumb drive method and it worked. 2.2 installed

Thanks very much, James,

Eventually I surrendered to the inevitable and connected the PST to the web, which enabled me to update the firmware.

I am not sure if the new firmware solved the problem of playing large files via the front USB port. However, I found that, if I turn off the rear power switch before removing the stick, the next one always reads ok and does it quickly (It is almost as if some of the PST’s internal memory was clogged up - previously I had inserted USB sticks and even 40 minutes later the PST was still displaying “reading”. It would be interesting for you guys to know if there is another software glitch related to that or if the Firmware upgrade had in fact fixed it).

By the way, this unit has a bit of a quality control problem in that the two left hand rear panel screws are loose. I tried to tighten them with a screwdriver but there is no effect - either the screws are too short or there seems to be no “hole” for them to enter.

Best wishes,

Peter

Glad the OTA update worked. I know Barry has continually made improvements to the USB function, so I’m curious if 2.2 does help with it. Shoot an email to our service team about the screws. If they are stripped or something, they’ll be able to send you out a few replacements.

Jeeze. I was getting ready to buy two of these. But it sure looks like it is not ready for prime time. Think I’ll wait

Everything went well up to item #9 in the firmware update instructions Paul posted, but my unit did not reboot. If I go back to see what version I am running it now shows the most current but I have my doubts that it actually installed. Is there a way to reinstall?

Why?
If it’s working fine, maybe you should just wait for the next update.

The reason I dont think it installed is the speed at which it downloaded and there was no reboot. I agree , see what happens next update.
