SACD Transport software update

Okay, all I mean to say is if you are using this as a disc transport and put an SACD in the transport only the HDMI/I2S will send to the DSD the DSD layer information.

I see. Good to know, thank you.

No problem with my new Wire World Silver Sphere HDMI cable (0.6m). The connectors have a pair of small retainers that help secure the connector to my PST and DS DAC. It takes a noticeable shove to seat the connectors.

So funny— I just 10 minutes ago borrowed one from a nearby friend and yes, it works fine. It also sounds nice.

OK - I tested the connection with the Wireworld cable and it made no difference. I then dug up the PS Audio HDMI cable and it didn’t work either. I suspect a software issue. It plays like it should but only as a CD transport. This is really frustrating, after all, it’s a “SACD Transport.”

This happened to me in the early days of the DMP and the unit had lost its “registration” so to speak and I had to connect it to the web and Support sent a file that solved the problem

I’m using the thumb drive. The blue light never flashed, although when I scrolled through the menu I see that I have v. 2.2. Can I rely on this? Any reason why there was no flashing? Does it suggest anything failed in the download?

N0 - I find the same thing. Marginal SQ improvement in SACD - exponential improvement with red book.

Unless I skimmed too fast and didn’t see you mention it, are you feeding it into one of our PS Audio DACs via I2S?

If you’re unit says it has 2.2, then you have 2.2. The firmware will not try and update again if it already has that firmware version on it.

I am having the same problem (look farther up in this string) and yes feeding it into PSA DAC via I2S

HI - My I2S is going into the Directstream DAC.

Hi - I have the Directstream DAC. Nothing I tried has worked, the transport is reporting that the CD layer of SACD’s is playing.

Thanks for responding. But does the absence of the flashing blue light suggest that although nothing was downloaded, a download wasn’t necessary because the 2.2 version was already installed on the unit? Or something else? I guess I’ll have to wait until the next firmware becomes available to know if the thumb drive installation works as it should.

Incidentally — and I mentioned this in a note to Scott McGowan already, so you probably don’t need to hear this — my PST didn’t come with a remote. This isn’t a big problem, as the remote from my old transport works with the new unit, but it seemed surprising to me.

Oh, and one other question, for registration purposes: I saw two different numbers on the back panel of the PST and I’m uncertain which is the serial number that registration requires. Can you help me out with that?

Thanks again. I’ve been continually impressed with PSAudio’s customer assistance, both in terms of responsiveness and speed, and your response confirms that feeling.

Erik

Sent you a PM for additional details.

Have you tried using the other I2S input by chance?

If the transport already has the code that is on that stick, it will just simply turn on as expected. No updating and no flashing.

You should have received a remote with it. The shipping guys will sometimes stuff them inside the trampoline packaging pieces. No guarantees, but it’s possible they put one in there.

The serial number will be the one with six numerical digits at the end.

Yes, I just tried the I2S 2 input, no change. I still get CD indicated in the display when loading an SACD.

And just to be sure, you have the latest 2.2 FW?

The SACD Transport does have the latest FW, 2.2.0. Also it has FPGA 0107.
