I believe PS Audio tests every units that is sent. The problem my guess would be with your buddies at FED EX. Sometimes they are a bit rough with packages.
Below is what Vinshine Audio tests before shipping to the customer:
We would like take this opportunity to share with you some of the manufacturing processes the product went through prior shipping to you.
- Each assembled PCB will go through a first round of QAQC test includes visual check, power on to measure its parameters (THD%, SN Ratio, Frequency Response, etc).
- At this point in time, the bad PCB will be rejected, and the good PCB will proceed to assembly into the chassis, along with the power transformer, connectors, etc.
- Burn in of 100hrs starts.
- Prior to shipping, a comprehensive QAQC test with Audio Precision APX525 will be performed to ensure the measurements meet the requirements.
- On top of the measurement test, listening test of all supported sampling rate of PCM/DSD will be performed via all input interfaces (USB/SPDIF/I2S/etc).
- Final visual check of the assembly and chassis will be done prior to packing. As part of the continuous improvement, we have implemented serial number for each unit shipped.
- The package will be handed to the courier agent for shipping to the rest of the world. We ship via world-best courier services like DHL/FedEx/UPS/SF by air with tracking.
- The tracking number will be provided once the order is shipped.
Our products are covered by 36 months warranty.
I have the PST through i2s into the SGCD, albeit via an Amazon HDMI (for now). Though Iāll admit to being very new to anything beyond a Yamaha AV receiver and CD carousel and a pair of Infinity SM102s, Iāve always been appreciative of high fidelity sound. Iāve never experienced anything like the PST. It has been life-changing. Perhaps one day Iāll upgrade from the current set up, but for now - Whoah!
Yes, of course. They are fully tested.
Sorry about the problem. Shouldnāt happen.
Itās likely a setup in the menu (guessing here). Can you reach out to us? I am sure we can get this resolved quickly.
TJās quite good at these.
During beta testing I briefly have PST on SGCD via I2S and coax, PST presents itself as a faithful transport. IMHO, although PST is a very very good transport, $6k is overkill for SGCD. But $4K is indeed attractive price. (Even beta tester wonāt get this kind of deal.) for me, PST really shines when pairing with DSDAC. If I do not have DSDAC, I might just get marantz instead.
Has any compared the Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T CD Transport with the PST?
A better comparison would be with the Jay Audio CDT2 MK3 CD transport. If youāre not playing any high resolution SACDās, why pay the extra money for the PST.
I almost pulled the trigger on the Jayās ⦠then the Ps Audio email came announcing the $3,999 Oct. Sale.
Waiting on my PST
You are very fortunate to get this deal. This PST is blowing my mind disc after disc. Never heard this level of fidelity from a disc player ever before!!
Iām almost sure that someone in the forum compared the Jays with the Pro-Ject CD Box RS2 T CD Transport and preferred the Pro-Ject.
I do listen to SACD as well and also like the feature of the PST to play DSD files from an external HD.
Thanks for the pep talk. Canāt wait to get it here and connected via my RAL HDMI
Believe me, playing DSD and SACD from this PST is at a level unimaginable from a disc player. The DSD or PCM files are every bit as good as the SACD discs.
Paul
The only comparisons Iāve seen between the two were on Audiogon including by the reviewer Terry London who reviewed both. He preferred the Project on sound though the Jayās is a much better looking piece.
Thatās where I read it. Thanks Jack!
Thanks Cliftonā¦.your making me salivate.
Iād like to know the answer to this as I too have 99% Redbook CDs and no i2s dac
@2muchgear @hiace_drifter Yup, 60 days applies (See Jamesh comment way up the top). Also, it will greatly improve sound from Redbook Cds over low level CD players, given that it has a recognized improvement over much higher level CD players.
I just ordered the PST a few hours ago. My DAC is the Bryston BDA-3 which doesnāt have I2S so Iāll be using the digital XLR output. The interconnect will be the Shunyata DELTA v2 AES/EBU.
Congrats Paul should be a great combo.
I feel fortunate to live within driving distance to the mothership. Iāve personally picked up every piece of PSA gear and chauffeured it back to my abode. Iāve seen FedEx in action, definitely not recommended.
