we need some sort of solution to this…please
The sound of bridge 2 was also improved with the new firmware? Can someone chime in on this?
Until you get a solution, just hit Dim on the remote…and it really isn’t that big of a deal. It is certainly not a critical problem but it is an annoyance. It will be fixed at some point.
I suspect that implementation of the latest version of RAAT protocol in the update could produce better sonic output for Roon users.
Or apparently just push the button on the front of the DS.
Come on…that’s what isn’t working like it used to work.
No they’re using the remote. Also several people on another forum found that it involved not stopping or pausing Roon.
No, they are not using the remote. They are putting the DSD to sleep using the button on the front of the DAC.
You need to look up to post 660.
That post is on a completely different topic.
So, back to the fade-in issue.
I had thought that I was immune to this because I’m strictly a physical media guy (no computer audio at all) and it seemed like all the people with the fade-in problem were streaming or using various computer apps.
Well I just popped one of my DVD+R’s into my DMP and heard for the first time, the fade-in everybody’s been talking about on the first track I played. I noticed that the recording sample rate is 96kHz/24bit rather than the standard 44.1kHz/16bit rate.
Could that be what is triggering the fade in?
Well, does a standard CD play the first track without a fade-in?
Yes it does. Standard CD’s and SACD’s have no fade-in at start of playback.
A DVD+R in 44.1/16 also had no fade in.
So I think it’s a safe bet that with PCM, anything above the basic 44.1/16 is going to trigger the fade-in.
I hope that can be fixed.
If the DMP switches to 16/44.1 whenever media is removed, yes, you will get the fade in on the first track when playing something other than a Redbook CD.
Not with SACD’s.
Then it is not defaulting to Redbook…
No. My DMP seems to default to whatever the last sample rate that was played was. Then once I hit play it displays the current sample rate.
But I’ve never heard the fade-in with the start of playing an SACD. The issue appears to entirely be related to higher sample rate PCM data streams.
Speed-racer is right, using the blue button on the DS.
We will be releasing a new version of Snowmass PIC code that will solve both the Bridge update not being recognized and this new irritation of coming out of standby. Stay tuned for details.
@Paul with new hotfix release maybe have a look at the loader.cfg to avoid firmware-reflashing on each DS power-cycle (with snowmass release ID was set as to 0998 while normally I assume should be 0300)
