Stack Audio AUVA Isolators

Is anyone else using M8-1.25 screw posts with the AUVAs? I ask because the ones I got from Stack do not have wrench flats on them, as do the others I got from them (they sent me a few as I wasn’t sure what screw size I needed).

I only got one set of screws (M8 1.25 I think) from Stack Audio and they fit right in with FR30’s caps. I didn’t even need any tool to do that. The longer ones I got from Amazon fit well to. Is this what you were asking?

No, Donald. The other screws I got from Stack, and the ones from Isoacoustics, have two “wrench flats” on either side so that a small wrench (Isoacoustics supplies one with their kit) can be used to tighten down the screw when inserted into the footer.

No hex in the ends?

Okay, that is the same as what I got. Something like this:

well, the end is solid I remember.

Thanks @RonP and @dchang05 - it did not occur to me to look for a hex opening on one end of the bolt. The others supplied by Stack have flats.

Here’s yet another quite illogical thing that would make Mr Spock raise an eyebrow: I just moved Stack Auva feetees from under chassis to under the stock feetees on my Jay’s CDT2Mk3 and the jump in overall SQ is easy to hear- very enjoyably easy to hear. Splain that one!
Thanks for the tip somewhere on this forum forest @weedeewop

Yeah, Rick advised on this one. I put the 3 EQ2’s under the stock feet of the Jay’s and I think it’s better.
I also replaced 4 EQ1’s in this move so that could be a factor.
The only downside is it’s tough to load the disk from the top with the increased height. Always something.

It’s simple. You’ve increased the transport altitude. That thinner, less dense air is always better for SQ!

Can’t believe I didn’t think of that! Also the air is dryer today so fewer water molecules blocking…

On this footer topic, I finally put the spikes on for the AUVA 100 speaker isolators. I left them off to more easily adjust for the right speaker position.
Bass is tighter and the image more solid. An uptick from the significant benefits realized from swapping out the factory feet (which are pretty good in their own right).
So, you’ve got to stick the landing.

I am going to change things under my PowerZone. Send me the things I need. Pretty please. I have AUVAs under my MU2, what four should I order for under a PowerZone with 8 fire hoses stuck in it? Those hoses weigh a ton. Big ones in back, possible contact in the front. I have large special weights that came with my rack. I could stick one of those on it. I do not appreciate the cut out portion in the front. But making a Lego wall seems wrong. Maybe stuffing a display like the front of a HiFi Rose that can display anything you choose would be nice. No. Wrong.

Ha!

Surely you jest.
As you know Josh will provide footers on a 30 day trial basis. The four EQ 1 footers do just fine, but you have a point regarding the massive power hoses.

I think you’re overdoing it.
You could place 2 fire extinguishers on their side beneath the PZ instead, and still use the AUVA footers.

Has anyone used a set of AUVA isolators with Aspen FR10 speakers? The AUVA 100 looks pretty large for use on the FR10, so I’m thinking that the AUVA 70 may be the best match based on size and sound quality.

I’ve just started a 30-day trial with the FR10s, and I only have about 20 hours of break-in so far. I’m generally pleased with the sound, but the rave reviews for the AUVA isolators make me think that I should be considering them as part of the sonic picture that can be achieved with the FR10.

Any advice about using the AUVAs with Aspen speakers on carpet would be much appreciated.

Congrats on the FR10!! They are nice speakers!!!

I lost my audiophile card with this one, but I am not using any feet on my FR20’s…(the method to my madness is having the tweeters at ear level when sitting in the listening chair)

The ADP Audiophile floor mat. SR makes the black box this could be the next big thing!

What no feet at all? Get a set of Stack AUVA 70 (or 100) then you are done.

For FR10 Stack AUVA50 may fit better (look wise).

The Auva’s differ in size: 50, 70, 100. Their weight and the associated capacity also differ. I decided on the Auva 100. But one of my speakers weighs over 80 kg. My simple thinking was that the Auva 100 would give me 100% benefit and the others might only give me 70% or 50% of the effect. How much is necessary and desired is up to each individual. Maybe seek advice from Stack Audio.

It’s unpleasant outside so I’m futzing around with stuff inside.
Today I replaced the Auvas under the feet of my Jay’s CDT2 Mk3 with some old VooDoo Isopods.
The IsoPods win decisively. Go figure.
