Stack Audio AUVA Isolators

I think @straightwire ordered his with extended threads for tilting his FR30’s higher. Ask him about it.

Donald, did you ask for the felt pads? I seem not to have gotten them. As for me, the screws that go into the footers are too long. I don’t need any tilt adjustment, and I’d rather have the footer seated as close as possible to the bottom of my outrigger pods. The way it is now it’ll look like the AUVA 100s are balancing my speakers on toothpicks.

Josh at Stack was kind enough to send 45mm screws to raise the rear footers. I don’t think Donald had that option earlier and had to second source. I might even try longer ones. I’m 10 feet back from the speaker and struggling to get in line with the tweeter.

You should contact Josh and ask him if they provide shorter screws, and pads. Mine came with them I remember.

I have to do more than that. I accidentally ordered M8-1 mounting bolts when in reality I need M8-1.25. :sob: :man_facepalming:

@tony22 Yes, mine came with the felt pads attached. They are extremely thin and don’t cover the entirety of the bottom of the footer…

AUVA 100 users, what’s your take on how many hours before the magic particles have settled in?

Those are for speakers?
With the component isolators, I was happy as soon as I got back to my listening chair.

Yep. Some have reported time needed for the speaker feets to settle.

I didn’t notice any break-in, but I wasn’t listening for it. Since the particles are put under pressure by weight, one would think there would be minimal settling. If an add-on takes me in the right direction, I enjoy it, forget about it, and it’s on to the next one.

Similar experience with my equipment footer, immediate gratification, assuming a good shake,
No experience with the speaker footers.

The particles in the Stack Audio footers are in different chambers and are not exposed to any pressure from the weight of the components. When I installed the Auva 100, I shook it as recommended. Since I installed these with the speakers lying down, I think the powder may have slipped on one side. I moved the speakers and tapped the footers a bit. Strong bass tones should align the particles after a while, I think. The sound seemed a bit thinner to me in the beginning. After a day or two I either got used to it or something had changed.

What is your impression of the AUVA 100 ?

Just took off my wet clothes from golf, and I was trying to see if I can rest for a few days from this forum. But since Tony asked something that I have experience; I am posting my thought.

There was a settling time in my case, and I would say it was around 30 minutes for the soundstage and treble to develop, but the bass impact was shorter. However, the loose bass turning into tight bass took a bit longer time too (do not remember how long).

But my FR30 was brand new at the time, so it may need a longer time than an older pair. It could be due to my old brain needed time to adjust to new sound also.

I will say by next day you should hear 100% of what AUVA could do.

Thanks everyone. Seems consistent with what Josh just sent to me. He sent a note telling me my correct threaded posts are on their way, and that most reports from users suggest 15-20 hours and the 100s will be where they need to be. Seems good enough for me - once I get to install them.

15-20 minutes, days, …?

I have the 70s. I did the shake/tap thing and they immediately sounded better than the Herbie’s titanium gliders and settled over the next day or two playing some rowdy music…

Woops! Time units added.

My experience with the footers seems to be different from you guys.
The late Max Townshend of Townshend Audio said that if you change anything, or move anything within your system. give it 24 hours hours to settle down again, before evaluating.
I tend to agree with this advice and certainly with the footers I’ve found changes within a 12 hour period and not getting the full effect until the next day.

I’ve just added the following post in the Schnerzinger GP thread for another example of letting ‘upgrades’ settle in for a day, before making any evaluations.

I can confirm raising it / them off the floor does indeed improve the sound.
I currently only have the GP.
A couple of nights ago I moved it from the floor to top of a box on my center channel and liked what I was hearing but wasn’t happy with it on my center channel speaker.
I moved it last night to a one meter tall speaker stand beside my center channel speaker, it didn’t just sound right, lost some of it’s clarity, sounded slightly closed in.
Allowing it to settle for a day transformed the sound, clarity back, very relaxed, treble slightly extended but nice and feathery, bass deeper. I was making more sense of the production again, hearing further into the mix.
It’s the best I’ve ever heard my system, it just makes you want to rediscover your CD collection.
Back to the music.
