Swiss Digital Fuse Box, the fuse reinvented

I have never had an issue where a Stealth cable made something sound worse. But I am certain it could happen to not me.

I don’t doubt that, Al. They’re great cables and cords. But… it may be that for some systems in some places there could be alternatives that are preferred… by some

You know, as someone who is only observing these cords from afar I’d wager that the sum of those ā€œsomesā€ is something not numerous.

Lessor preferred by who?

I’ve already related my own experience, Al. I’m not alone. It’s not a denigration of Stealth products by any means at all. They are stellar products. But any given speaker manufacturer, by similar example, does not make speakers that are suitable to all audiophiles. Just the nature of the hobby.

People who I admire and respect prefer Shunyata cables…Audioquest cables…Kimber cables…Cardas…Transparent…Stealth…Mogami…Amazon
And Amir thinks we’re all bozos because cables make no difference.

Amir believes measurements trounce listening with one’s ears. Amir and his followers are well beyond the cynical. They condemn and condemn with zealous vigour - a misanthropic loathing. A bad bunch!

The best measurement tool is the human ear. How the music moves you (or doesn’t) is the final word.
Zealots of any type that conform to their ā€œtrueā€ criteria are a dangerous bunch, as you say.
Admittedly, however, I sometimes wish I had the clarity and peace of mind of blind faith. Sure would be easier, but not as much fun.

There are those who truly believe that all that can be heard can be measured.

And they have no idea how much they have knowingly limited their whole life experience.

ASR is a funny place but they do have a point. I have two pieces now that are ASR approved (a whole lot that isn’t too…lol).

One, I bought an Apollon Purifi PWM amp with SMPS for my outside system. This is a small, 240 watt per channel thing that is just brilliant. Sounds amazing on my outside system. Would have never considered it without ASR. They would make fun of me because I feed it with a Lehmann class A headphone pre-amp: distortion into measured perfection. Still, this amp is a killer. I had a music hall integrated A/B with a real linear power supply before. The Apollon is way, way better for a very reasonable price.

Two, my KEF Reference One meta speakers. I bought them because I loved how they sound. Read well after I bought them that the ASR locals love them. I have to agree. They are pretty amazing. They also love the blades and they are on my short list end game speakers.

I don’t trust anyone with ā€œall the answersā€ but I will listen.

I have a preference that we don’t mention ASR or Jay’s Audio here. If you are a fan of either good luck with that. But bringing it up to mention this and that is tedious at best. Like arguing about cables. Or fuses. Or tubes vs. solid state.

We all know that ASR exists, we all know Jay’s Audio exists, no reminders needed. No apologies needed. Like what you like and be happy. Just don’t drag those folks into our nice happy world. Leave them in theirs.

My two cents.

Al, you definitely have to open a youtube channel! Really! I’d love watching your reviews on gear, shows or dealer’s visit and demos.
A youtube channel not for all, just for selected people and friends, a small group to be accessed upon request and careful evaluation of the profile, a club with an aptitude entrance test.
Your knowledge and experience should be shared, your famous Pearls (that I’m still collecting) would be greatly enhanced by video.
You don’t need wasting time with cameras and computers, I’m sure you can find a young nerd nearby to do the tech job.

Fun! The camera hates me though. It loves to animate my many chins. I am actually quite hideous to look at. People tend to quickly stare at their shoes and walk wide around me, Kids point and scream.
It could be that I am always in a rabbit costume. I am not a cute bunny. I am more like Coal Miner Bunny with anger issues.

I have already pitched this idea to him! You are not wrong.

I disassembled Core Tech. Pigtail for the SDFB, and found this:

Four silver-plated copper for conductors and one for ground. I was going to put my spared Furutech plug but found I only have a Viborg AG plug so I put that on. The ā€œFurutechā€ plug comes with it is definitely not the real thing, but it is better than the cheap hospital-grade plugs on my old PSA.

What prompted me to do this is that the pair of FR30 has even more resolution and detail than my previous speakers. As a result I heard an obvious difference between the pigtail and PSA in front of FB, and I prefer PSA. However, my assessment of the PC in front of FB has about 1/3 of the difference than the one after FB. So maybe it is not a significant difference, or even audible in some. Nevertheless, I heard a difference.

The old PSA cord has cheap home-depot plugs on it, but I like its full and dynamic sound. So I plan to replace the plugs with NCF, then I am sure it would be a great one used as a pigtail.

The pigtail with the new Viborg plug is going back to the wine cellar for burn in again. I may try another comparison on weekend.

Then let me tell you the rhodium-silver sluggo I just received! I’m thinking I’m nuts too.

My money is on the copper Sluggo. I’ll bet you a picture of a donut, you don’t like the rhodium better.

Do we have a wager?

Nice insight. It seems that a Chinese likes to use the design of Nordost. The plugs are half the battle. Your wall socket is also Furutech Rhodium NCF, so the right plug would be ideal. Did you also take a picture of your PSA cable? How is this structured? The connection cable doesn’t have to be too long. You’ve already tried a few other cables for this location. In which direction should this sound go? I am very satisfied with the Furutech dps-4.1. The copper is very high quality and it has an NCF coating. The sound is very natural. The bass is full and well structured, the treble is extended. Sound from top to bottom. Very good depth and perfect timbre. The room is easy to hear and reveals the finest details. It would be my recommendation if you want to use NCF connectors. It also sounds good at the beginning, the bass is still a bit rich and the treble is slightly brighter. However, after a few days it balances out and after about 500 hours it gives you 98% of everything. Well balanced without any aspect standing out or missing anything. Depending on how long your other cables are, you can also choose this length so that you can use it in other places. Depending on your mood, swap it with a Dragon or use it for the Puritan. Dave would also have a PSC…your PSR in copper flat band…a little less detailed but fuller in sound. Do you want the FI 50 NCF? Alternatively, the 48 NCF would be with stainless steel instead of carbon. The sound is slightly different, it should have a bit more hardness in the sound.

A simple cable with good connectors is usually preferable to a good cable with cheap connectors.

You might also find a good used cable with Furutech NCF connectors. A Dps-4.1, Snake River, Audience, Zenwave…or something similar. :joy:
