You guys are gonna love this, while at the same time calling me a total idiot. I just ordered a graphene sluggo to put in my Nordost QB-8 power strip, sans the fuse box, to compare to the SR Master Fuse I have in there now.
I figger that all my gear is fused, and the 20 amp line feeding my system is on a circuit breaker, so it’s just like using an unfused power strip, right?
I do have Shunyata surge suppressors sprinkled liberally throughout my system…
Finally Mark answered me. Next week a SnubWay will be shipped to me. Stay tuned.
Since I haven’t wall sockets available he suggested me to plug it into the first socket of my Puritan.
@Philip_Gan Yes, the Graphene sluggo was a clear but not a particularly dramatic improvement over the SR Master Fuse. It basically takes the benefits of the Master further in the same directions, enhancing speed, dynamics, bass definition and weight, and all aspects of soundstaging…
When you think about it, what I’m doing with the sluggo in my QB-8 powerstrip without the SDFB box is no different than plugging my gear (all with their own fuses) directly into the wall…
I initially used the SDFB with a plastic adapter plugged into my power regenerator. I didn’t already have a spare power cord and I thought that the direct connection should work. It was good.
I then bought the Extreme Piggy tail. Much better!
At least it seems to have respectable performance! I need them as the SDFB only has US 3 pins at one end (or Schuko option), whereas I am in Australia and SDFB doesn’t have AU fittings for power cables. I’m going to order three SDFBs with graphene sluggos and extreme piggies for my P20 and two BHK300s.
The manufacturer does not recommend replacing internal fuses with Sluggos. I think you can use an SDFB with any component that has a fuse on the incoming power. . . replacing that fuse with a Sluggo. I have a SDFB on my PS Audio P15, my PS Audio DSD DAC Mk II, and my Decware SEWE300B amp.
Just the power inlet fuse for the BHK300s, not the rail fuses. I’ve ordered two SDFBs for my BHK300s, and another for my P20. I’ve also ordered HiFi tuning Supreme fuses to replace the rail fuses in the BHK300s.
I have to say that this year’s innovation in my system has been the introduction of three Swiss Digital Fuses. I don’t miss the expensive fuses they replaced at all.
These have elevated the sound of my system in ways I had not imagined before. All the “high fidelity” aspects of tonality, dynamics, soundstage, imaging. . . they have all had a boost.
And all the Sluggos I have used have imparted interesting characteristics but I now have a Graphene Sluggo in each and am really in love with these particular Sluggos. There is a fullness and “accuracy” that I think is a product of increased resolution, and there is a very flowing dynamics that seems natural and “organic.”
I thank those that have trail-blazed the Graphene ahead of me and spurred my following in that direction. These Graphene Sluggos are just plain awesome.
Yesterday I borrowed a SDFB and copper Sluggo from a friend.
I put it in my line stage preamp, unplugged my phono preamp to use it’s power cable so the same cable in and out and just streamed.
No fuse ever made such an improvement in my system. It’s as if the preamp woke up.
I also tried a couple standard “courtesy” cables just to see. And yes, as one would expect, power cables do what power cables do.
In my case, buying the SDFB and another power cable is more than I want to spend. But removing the cost of the cable makes this a no-brainer.
SDFBs are effective in my experience, but seem to have not caught on among fellow forum members as much as other similar “accessories” have for some reason.
