Synergistic Research ORANGE Quantum Fuse Vs Blue Fuse

Orange fuse from P12 now in P15…both good results!

Very satisfied with the results with orange in the BHK preamp. I’ll wait for a sale to buy more for other components.

I got a bunch of orange ones in the last sale. Added them to BHK Preamp, P15 Regenerator, DSD DAC, Stellar Phono, and BHK 250 (power and rail fuses). Simply put… LOVE THEM!

I grabbed all six for my BHK 250. Highly recommended on the 3-2 sale

It may be awhile as they sale just concluded a while ago…

Hopefully will come around again…

I believe it’s been the month of August for a few years now. I’ve got about 400 hours on mine and I need to swap back to the stock fuses just for fun and to be sure I’m going to keep the Orange as I approach 30 days.

and the answer is:

Oh yes you will …keep that is :grinning:

I have swapped the stock back in…in short; the fiddle doesn’t sound the same…
out goes the stock…It’s a slippery slope you know…

I’ve slipped that slope for 25 years now…

I kept a system static for almost 10 years at my longest stretch…well other than the free tweaks with different wood blocks and absorbing materials

My current, 1300 sq. ft. ‘last’ home system is 3 years into its evolution and exceedingly satisfying. I don’t think my current setup is detailed anywhere here. It is my best yet.

Your not kidding…almost the same time cycle as yourself…
Yet somehow I know there is a plateau vantage point where
you can enjoy in the new levels of accomplishments your
system will afford you…

Funny though…I thought was there until; ole uncle Paul decides
he’s going to have a Power Plant promotion or some such…and now
this kid just has to savor that new candy…

Just around the corner…right?

Yeah will see till the next time…

Happy trails and great sojourning

Yeah well, just before the Power Plant promo was a BHK promo that upgraded perfectly fine M700 (sold for a profit after nearly 3 years) to BHK level of bliss.

and hopefully a sale on oranges.

Yesterday, I pulled the 4 Orange rail fuses on my BHK 250 after 3 weeks, leaving the two input fuses installed (Orange).

This morning I put the 4 Orange rail fuses back in. No contest. I have no reason to fuss with them again.

FWIW, my BHK preamp has a Blue, DS has Ultra Beeswax and P10 has Audio Horizons. Streamer has some exotic fuses that came with it from the guys the built it in the Netherlands.

A problem with these expensive fuses are when they blow! I have an 1A Orange fuse blow in my server yesterday! Shoot!!! I put in the extra old Blue I had before. Both fuses in the server blew before and those where Blues back then. It just blew when I turn on the power on the power switch. Maybe I should use a slightly higher rated fuse. Both fuses are 1A. Maybe I should use 1.2A, I don’t know, but I don’t notice any difference in sound with that 1 Orange changed to a Blue. Maybe because all others in the system are Orange’s and Ultra Beeswax in the P20.

waymanchen…I feel your pain as well…My Emotiva XSP1 Gen2’s
Oranges blew after an amazing nite of music…it that wasn’t
a bummer…so…It is a hit…ouch … when they blow…the show must go on!!

So back in went the stock fuses…and while not bad…they are a
step down two or three…

Called cable co asked about going up in ma; stock fuses are 315ma,
so asked if I could up the value…yes was the reponse up to a point.
So how about going to 500ma as 400ma was sold out…still within
the acceptable…

My Emo is now burning in 500ma Oranges (sauteeing away)…
Putting in the replacement Oranges…wow stock fuses (though ok)
dont even come close…hopefully at 500ma these will stay put and
not pop.

Would I like to audition the beeswax fuses …sure… but have to wait
for my piggy bank to regain it’s composure…

That’s how it is so far…

Best wishes all
happy trails

Anyone here know the physical dimensions of the fuse in the P3? I could move my rack out and look inside of mine but I’d rather avoid that if possible.

From the manual.

Fuse: The P3, for all units marked US and JP, takes a 5 amp, 250 volt, 5mm/20mm Slow-Blow fuse. For all units marked EX, GR, UK, and AU, the P3 takes a 3 amp, 250 volt, 5mm/20mm SlowBlow fuse

If you will notice in the pictures…just below the rest button
is the fuse holder…if it pattern holds true it will be a small
slow blow fuse…for the US version can’t quite tell the
fuse value.

Someone who know will surely chime in.

Happy trails

Actually, the P3 takes a 2 amp fuse but as you can see from the manual, it doesn’t give the physical dimensions of the fuse, just its value.
