The DMP experience

Undoubtedly! There is a promise to keep. It would be rather unfair to leave DMP owners with that alternative to get a properly working machine. And who says that the new transport will be functioning any better? It seems that is everyone’s expectation? If the DMP code can not be fixed so close to completion, how can I trust that a new product from the same company will be flawless from the start?

What is life but a serious of experiences?

Only if Ted can upgrade the firmware.

I like it not-so-serious, personally. And what if you fall for the face and the chassis malfunctions?

Wait—When did this topic veer off to Italian cars?

Haha - I’m still on disc drives…

I had to return my DMP for the second time in 6 months. I’ve only played, maybe, 10 discs on it since I bought it brand new! I’ve owned SACD players by Marantz for 10 years plus, when cds were my main media, without a hiccup. This is totally unacceptable, why should a $6000 player need to be returned to the manufacturer after every 3-5 hours of use? Now I’m waiting for PSAudio to get parts to repair my not even broken in DMP, again! I really can’t imagine spending money on a PSA source, ever again.

What parts failed?

Your feelings are totally understandable. I had a couple problems with some PSA components and I felt very frustrated. But now that they’re resolved, I couldn’t be happier with the sound and overall performance.
Your faultless Marantz was probably a very generic design. My Marantz is. I still have that unit in my basement gym system. Reliably standard design, standard, workman like sound.
Give and take in the boutique world.

That’s just my DMP. I didn’t mention problems I’ve had with BHK300, P12, DSD. LOL. Sound quality is great, unless it won’t play! I haven’t had any problems with my BHK Pre, or P20, yet. Fingers crossed.

I’ve asked, but yet to get an answer.

Just got an answer. Replaced oppo board, main board, and output. Holy cow, all that after playing a total of 10 cds! Thanks for great service.

Oh my goodness! The pressure you must feel deciding which of your discs is worthy of being played in the future! Only the rilly gud Kanye discs…

I just listened to James Taylor’s newest release, AMERICAN STANDARD, that came out today. The DMP made it sound magnificent! Highly recomended CD!

Any updates on a new (DMP) software version release?

I bought it and was disappointed in the sound quality. It is recorded too loud with too much compression. I too have a DMP and DS DAC as well as BHK preamp and 250. It is ok but his older albums are more dynamic.

I think the DMP is so far on the back burner that we had better not hold are breaths. It definitely still needs some fine tuning for sure.

It is oddly squirrelly, especially given his history of recordings. Not sure what the deal is, but after a half a listen, I don’t feel like listening to it again. I’ll sort it out eventually ; )

That post should not be hidden.
